this little girl makes everything better!

one of my new years resolutions is to be the best mom that i can for her!

17 months already!!

this little one is so full of fun and life!!

she is doing amazing things! i just wanted to share some of her happenings...

she can say lots of words! some on her own and some coaxed:

she loves loves loves to read! will usually sit for at least 5-10 mins and just look at books several times a day!

she is a sweetie! gives loves and kisses to her toys, animals, cups, remotes... and us too!

takes 2 pretty good naps most days

loves to "scrapbook"! will climb up on my chair at my scrapbook table and take all of my pens and pencils out of the tool organizer and then put them back in. loves to color too!

climbs onto anything she can! chairs, couch, hope chest or the recliner in her room.

loves to help momma cook. stirring is her favorite! but she loves to carry stuff from the fridge to the counter too.

such a happy little girl! laughs at things and herself! she is a tease too! :)

really enjoys being outside and going for walks. now that we have snow we don't get out as often, but she will head right for the snow as soon as she sees it! we have to watch her close or she will take off down the sidewalk at any given moment! crazy kid!!

loves to play with other kids! learning to share has been pretty good...

uses her binky at sleep times only. or at least that is the plan... until she sneaks it out of her crib!!

folds her arms for prayers and then says "amen" . so cute!!

she can be picky when it comes to eating, but her very favorites are: noodles (preferably mac/cheese), popcorn, sweet pickles, french fries, yogurt, oatmeal, green beans, pancakes, goldfish crackers, bread, cheese, carrots and ketchup! :) she loves to drink her milk and water! and an occasional cranberry slush! she is not a huge fan of any meat... yet...

she has 12 teeth! and loves to crunch down on her snacks!!

we sure love this little girl! the light of our lives for sure!

whew... today was a busy day for abbi...

she started out with a yummy breakfast...

then she decided to steal momma's bag of trick or treat candy.... really fast kid here!!

then it was time for a walk in daddy's sandals... they look like ski's on her!

after her nap she decided she didn't want the bumper pads in her bed anymore...

and last... she decided to take a try and photography!!

11 months old...

11 months.... really?

where has the time gone!!

here are some of abbi's best moments in her 10th to 11th month!!

* abbi loves loves loves her daddy!! and his hats!!

* abbi is soooo close to waving bye bye...

* she got kinda sick - her temp was sitting at 101-103 for a day of so. i took her to the dr and it was down to 99. they did test for a UTI and it was negative. whew!!

* i am wondering if abbi is gonna be a thrill seeker... she loves to hang off the edge of the bed!! silly kid!!

* she is quite the chatter box! we are hearing lots more sounds! NNANANANA - we think is nanny. LALALALALALA. giah gloo giah.

* if you put your hands out and ask for something, she is starting to hand it to you!!

* we flew to oregon for the soucy family reunion. abbi was soooooo good!! seriously. the best little girl!!
she did very well on both flights too!
she was voted "miss congeniality".
she was scared of rick (my oldest brother) . i think it was because of his facial hair... we will work on that so she isn't as scared next time we see him.
she loved uncle don and marcus ( my youngest brother) ! they made her laugh!
abbi warmed right up to papa! even let him feed her a few times!!
but the hit of the reunion, was aunt michele! she went right to her and snuggled. she never does that!! very cool.
she played with lori (rick's wife) and loved the kitty she bought her.
she even played with seth (my cousin mikes son) and his dog!
this trip included lots of firsts for her:
5 winery's ! HA!!
playing golf- or riding in the cart!
bowling- which she didn't really like. she was tired and it was loud.
she rode on a speed boat!! which she loved! just was upset when momma covered her up cuz it was cold!!
and she got to go to a toy store and got spoiled by papa!! and michele!
fun fun fun!!

* abbi is such happy little girl!! lots of giggles and smiles!

* she loves to watch the remote control car with daddy!! she is still scared of the remote control big truck he has though.

* what a beautiful smile!! she is such a tease too! :)

* abbi still loves momma and daddy's toes!!

* she has started "dancing" to music!! love it!! she started with the book that plays music. she makes a "one" with her finger, pushes the button and then sways back and forth in a rocking motion while sitting down. :) :) :) so dang cute!!

* such a big helper! :) wants to get into everything!!

* abbi will peek a boo around corners or out from behind anything!! it is so cute!!

* she enjoys growling as well... i think it is her version of a yell. :)

* abbi sure loves her books!! she will go into her room several times in a day and just sit and read books!! i love it!!

* the dropping stage has arrived!! abbi will drop things as a game- off of the changing table, couch, high chair... fun.

* have a mentioned she is a big helper? she loves to help unload the dish washer!! i have her help with the silverware (minus the knives) . she hands them to me one at a time, as i say thank you with each one. she smiles and hands me the next one.

* she loves to play with momma's phone! she dials papa (speed dial) all of the time! she has changed contact information, set alarms and even did a 3 way call!! -which i don't even know how to do!! ha!!

* the remotes are off limits for her because she does all kinds of crazy things with those too!! turns tv or dvr on and off. sets things to record. etc...

* one of abbi's favorite toys is the easter basket that annie gave her and the princess eggs i got on clearance. she will play with them forever!!

* busy busy girl!! into everything!

* abbi loves grandma maryann!!

* abbi loves to help daddy unload his cooler of soda when he gets home from work! she even puts most of them in the fridge!! :)

* she can be a wild sleeper sometimes!! ha!! she loves to move her bumper pads all over the place!

* finally she is sleeping all through the night!! 8pm ish to 7am!! wahoo!

* even though she is sleeping through the night, her going to sleep for naps and nighttime is not too consistent. sometimes she will go right to sleep, other times it takes alot of work!

* she is a tummy sleeper like momma and daddy. it is cute with her little bummy is stuck up in the air.

* we moved her to size 4 diapers for nighttime since she was waking up wet in the mornings. that seems to be helping.

* abbi loves to climb and test her limits. by doing so she has lots of bumps and bruises! bonks her head on everything!!.

* she makes a cute little fish lip smooching noise. very cute!

* abbi is eating lots of big people food now too!! cheese, loves veggies! if i put down peas, carrots and corn- she will eat all of the peas first! they are her favorite! which is funny, because she didn't like the jarred peas for awhile. i dont blame her... they aren't nearly as good as fresh or frozen!

* abbi really enjoys being in her walker. she will play "crash up derby" (as kevin calls it) by running into anything she can!

* we were getting ready to go get our bountiful basket one saturday morning and she wanted to get in!! i think my basket was very bountiful that week!

* i think she is teething again...

* abbi is such a lovey girl!! she gives loves to her dolls, bear, toys and diaper boxes!! hee hee!! the dolls can be upside down or sideways. it doesn't matter... she will sometimes give them a little pat on their bum too. she usually will then toss the doll behind her! love them and leave them! ha!

* we are lucky to be able to get some loves from her too. she gives us a little pat when she gives loves or hugs to us too!!

we love you abbi girl!! you are truly the greatest thing in our lives!!

what a life changing experience for me...

it all started with these 6 siblings...

my dad is the oldest of 6 kids and i met them all for the first time this weekend!!

what an amazing experience!!

i just have to say that i was extremely nervous going into this weekend... but each one of my aunts and uncles made me feel so welcome and loved. they were incredibly kind to abbi and i! they were each amazing!!

we loved riding on the hellgate speed boat excursion! even though the first half of the trip was raining and cold...

farewell oprah...

i have always loved oprah! she is a true example of humilty, honor and honestly. i will miss her show very much! but i am excited for her next journey on OWN.

let me share a fun story about the oprah show...

when i started college, my mom moved away. so i moved in with my best friend and her family. it was amazing! loved it! well, my bf has 3 younger sisters and i found myself with them alot in the afternoons watching oprah!

i thought they weren't really paying attention to what i was watching... just playing with their toys and stuff... well, i was wrong!

one day after turning on oprah, kristine, the middle girl, asked me ...

"do we have to watch that black lady again?!"

ha! i have laughed many times over that comment over the years!

let me just say... that i cried during the 2 surprise shows ...

and during the final show... i felt her "love letter" for us, her viewers, was amazing! i plan on watching it again and making notes of her message. it touched me that much!

here is an article i found online that highlighted a few pieces of her show...

(CBS/AP) CHICAGO - After 25 years on the air, Oprah Winfrey ended her famous talk show on Wednesday by sharing memories, reflecting on life lessons and thanking fans for coming along on the journey with her.

The episode featured no guests - just Winfrey herself, standing alone on stage. It opened with a clip from her first show, and she then spent the hour showing favorite clips from throughout the years and recounting what she's learned during the show's quarter-century run.

She told viewers that sometimes she was a teacher - calling her show "the world's biggest classroom" - but more often her viewers instructed her. She called Wednesday's episode her "last class."

Among the life lessons she shared was, "You are responsible for the energy you create for yourself, and the energy you bring to others. Don't wait for somebody else to save you, to complete you, to fix you."

"Each one of you has your own platform. You can help somebody, you can listen, you can forgive," she said. "My greatest wish for all of you ... is that you carry whatever you are supposed to be doing and don't waste any more time."

She also thanked viewers for watching throughout the show's 25 years.

"Twenty-five years and I'm still saying, 'Thank you America,'" Winfrey said. "Thank you so much. There are no words to match this moment."

The taping came a week after Hollywood A-listers and 13,000 fans bid Winfrey farewell in a double-episode extravaganza at Chicago's United Center. The shows that aired Monday and Tuesday included Aretha Franklin, Tom Cruise, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jordan and Madonna, among other stars of television, music and movies. They were just a few of the approximately 30,000 guests who have appeared on the show over 25 years.

On Wednesday, Winfrey called the event "a love intervention on steroids."

Winfrey ended Wednesday's show by saying she felt "all sweet, no bitter."

"I won't say goodbye," she told fans. "I'll just say until we meet again."

Abbi Little is 10 months old!!

wow...

here are some of her wonderful highlights of her 9-10 month!!

* abbi loves to go barefoot! ...just like her momma!

* she has combined her bahbahbahbah (bouncing her hand onto her mouth) with rolling her arms! it is so cute!! she bumps her mouth to make the sound as she rolls her little arms!!

* she kicks/rubs her little feet around like a lightning bug! so cute...

* her little feet are always crossed!! such a lady!

* abbi throws stuff behind her! stuff in the laundry basket, off of the bookshelf, out of the toy chest... she will then turn around, see the mess she made and then proceed to chuck that pile behind her!! funny!!

* she loves books! her favorites right now are: musical kisses, hugs, soft foam lady bug and the bubble bedtime book by seasame street.

* her favorite toys are: all of them!! :) we did tie some yarn to on of her rattles and she thought that was pretty fun too!

* abbi will sit very still on my lap when i trim her fingernails. she has for several months!! now her toes... not so much!! :)

* abbi had her first hotel stay when we went down to mesquite for jeff and heidi's wedding. she did really well! she woke up only once a night, so i just tucked her in bed with me and she went right back to sleep. i guess that is one of the priveledges of going on vacation... you get to sleep with momma... :)

* we are now ignoring the night time crying- trying to get her to sleep through the night.

* naps are crazy right now!! she either falls asleep #1- sitting up or slumped over from cying so much. #2- or when she is laying down i can keep my hand on her chest to help her calm down. i have noticed that singing to her helps calm her down too.

* abbi started clapping her hands!! we were out to dinner with the gang and she just did it!! so cute!!
* she just cruises around the room holding on to the couch, hope chest, bookshelf, tv cabinet or wall... whatever she is around! yikes!!

* abbi loves to get into things!! boxes, laundry baskets...

* her new passion is what we call "paperwork"... she tears and shreds all of our junk mail and magazines!! anything paper!! rip rip rip!!

* this little "magic" lotion works wonders!! not only for her skin, but for her temperment! :) she can be super fussy when we lay her on the changing table... give her the tube of "magic lotion ... and wahla! happy baby!! :) this pic was right after her bath, so she is a little wet still!

* her schedule right now is: 7am: breakfast- cerial and fruit plus 4 oz bottle. 9-9:30am: snack and 4 oz bottle. 10-10:30am: naptime. 11-11:30am: lunch: cereal with veggie and 4 oz bottle. 1-1:30pm: snack and 4 oz bottle. 2-2:30pm: naptime. 3:30-4pm: 7 oz bottle. 5:30-6pm: dinner- baby food meal or jar veggies plus 4 oz bottle. 7:30-7:45pm: bath/jammies. 7:45-8pm: nurse or 4oz bottle and bed.

* we have added a 3rd "meal" at lunch time. more of the stage 3 food.

* she has started eating dairy!! yogurt and cheese are ok!

* abbi loves snack time!! she eats baby puffs, yogurt melts, cinnamon crunchies and some small pieces of arrowroot cookies.

* she is also eating off of momma's plate as much as possible. she loves that!!

* she is very independent! she wants to get her food herself! finger food from my hand or from her tray.

* abbi loves her daddy!! and his race car! they will sit on the floor at least 20-30 mins and play with the remote control car that was kevin's when he was little.

* she enjoys "walking" around! she will hold our hands or hold onto the walls!! cruising is her thing!

* abbi still loves to play peek-a-boo! she will cover her head with a blanket, shirt or toy so that she can play too!! darling!!

* when i came back from getting my hair cut short, abbi didn't recognize me!! :( she whimpered when nanny left her alone with me in the room!! made me sad! it did take a day or so until she was convinced it was me...

* abbi loves to be in her stroller!! anytime she is out and about, she is happy!

* she loves other little kids/babies!

* sometimes abbi is shy around other people, or when she first gets around someone. and she will duck her head into my shoulder.

* abbi loves to "help" daddy put his sodas away when he comes home from work!! it is so cute!!

* she is starting to sit up a little at bathtime- she sits on her bath sponge. getting so big!

* abbi gets very very excited when momma or daddy comes home from work!!

* abbi attended her very first parade!! the girls all went to the smithfield days parade!! she loved it!! didn't keep her hat or sunglasses on very long... but was sure cute while they lasted...!

* i am pretty sure the days of the headbands are coming to an end... she won't keep them on.. at all!!

we love this little girl more and more everyday!! she is such a wonderful kid!!

my really good friend, jeff, got married over mother's day weekend!

jeff and heidi are so great together! whirl wind courtship, but i am excited for them!!

the Little family took a roadtrip to Mesquite, NV for the wedding!!

we had a blast!!

when i was a little girl i remember watching princess diana and prince charles get married on tv! it was amazing!

i have loved princess diana since that day...

and have watched her sons grow into men....

today william got married to kate middleton!

i watched this wedding as well! i loved it!

they look so happy and i am excited to see where their adventures lead them...

i love this organization!! they are amazing!!

april is child abuse prevention month and a big fundraising opportunity for them! i am proud to be a part of sam's club and support them the way we do!!

sam's club hosted a bbq and supply drive to raise money for the center.

we also sold balloons at baby animal days at the American West Heritage Center. all proceeds went to CFSC.

as a thank you for all that we have done, CFSC gave sam's club 10 tickets to their Wild West dinner and auction! what a fun night!!

9 months...

9 months!! wow!!

here are some of little darlings highlights from her 8-9 month!!

* she has teeth!! she now has her bottom 2 front teeth! i found them on sunday, 3.20!

* she started crawling too!! wed, 3-30! it was a big week for Abbi!! holy cow!! she is sooooooo happy to be moving!!

* because of her teething- we have had some pretty rough nights! abbi just wants momma! which isn't a horrible thing at all... it just means that i got to sleep in the recliner several nights cuz she wouldn't sleep in her bed... poor little girl!

* we are trying to figure out what sleep method works the best for all of us...

* now that abbi can crawl... she is crawling all over the place!! she pulls herself up on the couch, tv trays and the hope chest. she is now taller than the tv trays!! guessing they will get put away very soon!! :)

* abbi loves her walker! she is getting stronger when using it on the carpet. and she zooooms all over the kitchen tile. watch out!! kevin calls it the crash up derby! hee hee!

* she also loves her toys!! all of them! she enjoys pulling all of her toys out of her toy cradle/chest. (the cradle was mine when i was a little girl).

* she is so curioius!! wants to see everything!!

she can now stand up in her crib... yikes!! so we lowered the mattress and raised the side. it is much harder for us to reach her, but safer for her.

* she is a super happy girl. she smiles alot!!

* her naps have been hard. she cries and cries! finally falls asleep... usually sitting up and hunched over! crazy kid!! she will sqint her eyes really tight when i am feeding her before bed. i think it's because she is tired and

her eyes burn.

* she loves music!! one of the only things that will calm her when she is upset is me singing to her...

* Ellen's talkshow is one of abbi's favorite things!! she will listen up and watch when ellen is on.

* abbi is into EVERYTHING!!! she loves to climb! her favorite right now is standing on the base of the walker to play with the toys on top!! so funny!

* she started playing patting her hand

on her mouth to make a sound... (bah bah bah) just like daddy taught her!! he has only been trying to get her to do this since she was 6 weeks old!! ha!!

* abbi loves patty

cake! out of the blue she started rolling her little arms like we do when we are playing patty cake! it is so cute! now she hasn't done it while we are playing... she just does it randomly.

* eating right now: we added 3rd stage baby foods to the mix! they are thicker and she isn't too sure about them...

* she is eating some table food: veggies- potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans. bread/rolls. noodle

s. fruits- bananas, plums and pears.

* loves her snacks: puffs, yougurt melts and arrowroot cookies in small pieces!

* she is such a big girl!! she is now using a high chair!! :)

we are trying to get abbi to go to sleep for bed or naptime without having to hold or rock her to sleep.

it's not working so well...

she is screaming at the top of her lungs as i type.

the books say for a naptime she can cry up to an hour...

and bedtime crying has no limit...

for momma either...

ps... she cried for and hour and then finally went to sleep!! hopefully this wont be the case everytime!!

did laundry

made dinner... (this is the one we should all be impressed with!!)

did the dishes again

ate

fed abbi again

played with mashed up bananas ... and abbi

folded laundry

ran the dishwasher again

started abbi's bath (daddy does her bath and jammies every night! i love it!!)

picked up all of the toys from the day

put stuff together for work tomorrow

put laundry away

fed abbi and put her to bed

cleaned the bathroom

took a shower

wow!! i felt like i didn't really stop at all!!

and you know what...

i never met my fathers mother. i wished i could have...

my mom always told me that she was a lovely women.

she passed away last month and i wanted to tribute her somehow...

Jeannine A. Soucy, 84, of Grants Pass died surrounded by family in her home on February 17, 2011.All who knew, loved & took care of Jeannine are welcome to come celebrate her life with us at Spring Village on February 27, 2011 at 1:30pm.

Jeannine was born to Joseph & Dorilda LeBlanc on 12/7/1926 in Lewiston Maine. On October 4, 1947 in Auburn Maine, She married Marcel Soucy who preceded her in death in 1999.

They moved to Southern California in 1951, then to Grants Pass in 1970. Jeannine & Marcel retired to Southern California in 1997. And in 2002 Jeannine returned to Grants Pass and became a resident of Spring Village.

She was an active member in the Emblem club and a member of the Sweet Adalines. She loved her family & friends. She enjoyed cooking, singing, dancing, playing cards, bowling, golfing & of course - bingo.

She is survived by 3 sons & 3 daughters. Richard Soucy of Brighton Michigan, Donald Soucy of Grants Pass, Roland Soucy of Concord New Hampshire, Susan Parker of Canyon Lake California, Michele Monteleone of Riverside California, Evelyn Pittman of Grants Pass, 12 grandchildren & 8 great grandchildren.

i will meet you someday... until then... i love you.

8 months old...

what!! my beautiful daughter is 8 months old!! wow...

here are some of her 7-8 month highlights...

* abbi is sitting up on her own quite well now!! so big!!

* she doesn't feel the need to put her fingers in her mouth after every single bite of food now!! wahoo!!

* bouncing/jumping when she is standing is her favorite thing to do!! she loves it!!

* abbi sits still and just watches closely when i trim her fingernails.

* she LOVES LOVES LOVES crinkle noises!!!! plastic... and paper!! loves to "read the mail"!

* her whole little body gets very excited when momma or daddy come home from work! her hands go above her head and flail about and her legs kick kick kick!! it makes a momma feel good!!

* abbi will entertain herself for a good 20 minutes in her walker. she loves the music (she can't quite

hit the button on her own... but is close!), the rolling ball and the moving beads!! such a fun toy!!

* she has started to push herself back in the walker and turn

around...

* i am only nursing her in the morning

around4am and then again at night before she goes to bed.

* food schedule is: eating cereal with a jar of baby food fruit or veggie 3x a day. at the end of

the month i did cut that down to just 2x a day...

* she has started to roll over from her back to her tummy!!

* one morning nanny found her on her tum

my when she woke up!! and she had completely turned her self around in the crib from how i had laid her down!! crazy little kid!!

* she still loves her bath time with daddy!! splash splash splash!!

* when she gets excited about something she will turn into me and cuddle. oh it makes me melt!!

* watch out world! abbi is kissing!! :) she has started to open mouth kisses!!

* she scoots all around the living room!! for not being able to crawl she gets around the house!!

* crawling is coming though... she has started to rock back and forth on her knees!!

* she loves to drink like a big girl from momma's big cup! she takes a couple of swigs of water from my cup with her tongue in the cup and licks like a kitty!!

* when abbi sits with me she wants to hold onto my thumbs... quite cute!

* abbi is a girl who knows what she wants!! when she is sitting she will grab for your fingers so she

can stand up!

* the tummy sleeping has continue

d throughout the month! we have found her on her tummy for several naps!! sometimes we can tell she was sleeping on her hands!! ... momma does it too. :)

* her favorite toys this

month are: pinky- the ring stacks- her rattles... noise!! :) and her abby cadabby doll.

* abbi and momma took a walk downtown in the stroller to get bunco gifts and she was

sooooooooo good!! she didn't fuss the entire walk or in the 2 stores we went in to!! she loves to be outside and watch people! such a fun little girl!

* 2 of abbi's friends turned 1 this month too

... tayson and anne. we went to visit them both an

d deliver a present. abbi loved playing with tayson!! she loves other little kids!! she is becoming very social!

* she loves to "run" when laying down on the floor! we can hear the THUMP THUMP THUMP from another room! so funny!

* abbi has a fun little sense of humor and personality. she will sneakily grab the spoon when you are feeding her... she gives a sly smile! so cute!! we also see this little sly smile after she finishes her bottles... right before she starts chewing on the bottle nipple! funny kid!

* she loves momma's toes!! fascinated by them!

* we got rid of all the small binkies and bought new bigger cute colored ones!! (6+mos)

* she is chatter box! enjoys to talk and squeal... ooooh wow!

peanut butter craze...

i have been putting pb on everything!!

cream of wheat...

this is my new favorite breakfast, lunch and dinner!! mmmmm soooo good!!

i found this yummy pb cookie recipe!! ... not your typical pb cookie!

2 eggs

1/3 cup water

1/4 cup butter

1 cup peanut butter

1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix - i used butter pecan instead

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease cookie sheets.

In a large bowl, cream together the eggs, water, butter and peanut butter. Stir in half of dry cake mix and blend well. Stir in the remaining cake mix and the chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.

Bake for 10-12 minutes in the preheated oven.

and i have been making this pb granola too!!

2 cups rolled oats

1 cup wheat germ

1/2 cup almond slivers

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

2/3 cup peanut butter

1/2 cup honey

2 tablespoons cooking oil

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

Mix together the oats, wheat germ, almond slivers and sunflower seeds in a large bowl. In a saucepan, over medium heat, stir together the peanut butter, honey, cooking oil and salt until blended and bubbly. Add vanilla to hot mixture.

Pour hot mix over the oat mixture until all is coated. Put in a baking sheet with an 1/2 inch edge. Bake for 45 mins at 300 degrees.

Stir mixture with a wooden spoon to break up and put in a large bowl to cool.

i just can't get enough pb!!

What an Amazing little girl at 7 months!!

we sure love her! here are some of abbi's highlights of her 6-7 month!!

* just when we started to figure out her schedule.... she mixes it up on us!! ha!

* abbi is now eating fruits too!! she loves

them!! after just veggies, fruits are a fun change!

* she is eating about 3 "meals" a day, plus either nursing or a bottle.

4am- momma

7am- fruit with cereal and 2-3 oz bottle

10am- 6 oz bottle

1pm- fruit with cereal and 2-3 oz bottle

4pm- 6 oz bottle

5:30-6pm- veggie with cereal and 2-3 oz bottle

7-7:30pm- momma and bed

* we have see that she is using and sticking out her tongue so much more!! very cute...

* abbi is "talki

ng" lots more with her jaw- YA YA YA YA and DA DA DA DA

* she has this little noise she makes when she is happy or excited... hmmmm hmmmm hmmmm ! we call it her happy noise. melts my heart.

* when i am nursing her at night she has to be touching my skin somewhere... my arm, breast, fingers or face. it is soooooo sweet. again. melts my heart. :)

* sitting up is soooo close. she is getting stronger!

* abbi can stand up from sitting

all by herself!! she did this the first time by pulling up on the laundry basket! yikes!!

* RUN RUN RUN!! her little legs just go and go and go and go.....

* when she is excited she flaps her arms and kicks her legs!!

* i love it when she reaches for us when we hold our arms out to get her!

* abbi loves to be standing... on the floor, on our laps, on the counter, on our bed... just give her some fingers to balance

with and she will be standing!

* her toes are still one of her favorite toys!!

* when abbi smiles her whole face lights up!!

* she is transitioning more and more from thumb to binky. less thumb-more binky.

* abbi still thinks she has to put her fingers in her mouth with EVERY bite of food. silly girl!

* she is getting more hair!!

* the beginning of the month she would get really fussy after only being up for and hour instead of 2... but the binky sure helped make it easier to handle. then as she got closer to her 7 month birthday she didn't seem to get as fussy.

* her used to be hour long naps are not nearly as consistant either this month... they are more like 30-40 mins... momma can't get much done in that amount of time!! :)

* when she smiles her little nose crinkles up! so dang cute!!

* we took her to get her 6 month pictures and jcpenneys! she did sooooo well! there was only one time that she started to fuss a little. and that was when the photographer laid her on her belly for a pic. she is still not liking her t

ummy too much. but as soon as we sat her up s

he was all smiles again!

* every year the newspaper has a "BABES OF ... 2010" well, i entered her to be part of it and she won a prize!! she won a $25 gift card t

o Lee's Market! wahoo!! good job abbi girl!!

* she is starting to grow more! she is finally outgrowing some of her 3-6 months clothes! :)

* abbi is about 14 lbs

* our little one is filling out more... her face is more round and her little legs are chunky! love it!!

* she is reaching and grabbing for toys

* abbi loves anything that crinkles- plastic or paper- and rattles!

* she loves loves loves music! she will stop what she is doing and turn towards the music to listen. she loves american idol, commercials with a catchy jingle, the radio and momma's voice.

* when she is upset i can sing to her and it will calm her down. her favorites are: you are my sunshine and popcorn popping. :)

* abbi loves her daddy!! her whole body is excited when she sees him! ... i am pretty sure the same thing happens to him... he loves her soooooo much! and is such a good daddy!

* her awake time consists of playing on the floor- tummy and back, being in the swing, laying in the blue bouncy chair and her new favorite... the walker!! :)

* abbi loves bathtime too!! i am thinking that the love is divided between being able to splash in the water and the fact that her daddy is the one that gives her a bath 90% of the time!! :)

* she is a happy girl... she laughs alot. she likes to play, tease and be teased.

* peek-a-boo is still one of her favorites!!

happy groundhog day 2011 !!

Many towns joined in celebrating Groundhog day, today in hopes to determine whether or not we will have six more weeks of winter, or if we are headed for an early spring. Even though there are many towns throughout the country who have weather predicting groundhogs, the most noble, by far is Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania’s famous little critter “Phil”.

The humble town held its annual Groundhog day celebration this morning, Feb 2ndand the results are in! The world’s most famous weather predicting groundhog, Phil, did NOT see his shadow this morning, so according to the folklore, good bye winter, hello early spring!

According to Wikipedia, the holiday, which began as a Pennsylvania German custom in southeastern and central Pennsylvania in the 18th and 19th centuries, has its origins in ancient European weather lore, wherein a badger or sacred bear is the prognosticator as opposed to a groundhog. References to Groundhog Day are found in a diary entry dated February 5, 1841, in Berks County, Pennsylvania by a storekeeper James Morris.

Wikipedia also states that Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, holds the largest Groundhog Day celebrations where crowds as large as 40,000 have gathered to celebrate the holiday since at least 1886.

So whether or not Phil’s prediction is accurate remains to be seen, one thing is for sure, those in the New Jersey area could sure use the break in this year’s snowy winter season!

a co-worker passed away this week. she was a single mom of 5. she was nice, quiet and kind. it is such a shock! we have rallied the last 2 weeks in raising money for her family. we held a bake sale at sam's club and raised almost $1300!! we will miss you colleen...

Colleen Barton (1965 - 2011)

Colleen Barton, age 45, of Logan, Utah, died Jan. 25, 2011, at the University of Utah Medical Center from complications related to acute respiratory distress syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.

Colleen was born Dec. 14, 1965, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the fifth child of Clark and Cherrill Barton. She had a happy childhood in Bountiful, Utah. Colleen was always very active in church and was especially fond of Girl's Camp and other youth outings. Colleen moved during her high school years when her father's duties with the U.S. Air Force initiated a move to Avon Park, Fla.; then Holbrook, Ariz. Colleen is a graduate of Holbrook High School. She always enjoyed music, singing with numerous musical groups. Being a member of the Holbrook High School Flag Team was a highlight of her earlier years.

Colleen attended Weber State College in Ogden, Utah, and Utah State University in Logan, where she met her future husband Kelly Dale Kemp. They were married in 1986 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had five children, Nathan, Kyle, Allison, Gary and Mellissa. They lived in Kearns, Utah, and Logan, Utah; they later divorced and Colleen continued to raise her family in Logan.

Colleen was a deeply spiritual person who cherished and served her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ. Her children were her life and she worked tirelessly to teach them honesty, love for others, faith in God and devotion to family. Her loving example and teaching has made her children unbelievably strong, resilient and united.

While living in Logan she was a very active member of the LDS Church, extremely involved with school and music for her children. She received and gave much support through her affiliation with Heart to Heart.She was a devoted friend, always willing to lend a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. She was universally loved because of her ability to accept and understand others without judgment. It is doubtful Colleen realized the extent of her enormous influence in the lives of her children, family and friends.

Colleen is survived by her children, Nathaniel Merrill Kemp (23), Kyle Riddell Kemp (21), Allison Kay Kemp (19), Gary Allen Kemp (16), Mellissa Rose Kemp (13); her parents, Clark Laws Barton, Cherrill Kay Barton (Oyler); her siblings, Jeffrey Clark Barton, Laurie Kay Anderson (Barton), Alan Glen Barton, Julian Dale Barton; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family and friends too varied and numerous to mention.

The outpouring of love and support to Colleen, her children and family have been truly humbling and oh so appreciated. Colleen is with her Father in Heaven and knows without a shadow of a doubt that she was loved by all.

Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Logan 6th Ward Chapel located at 94 W. 600 South in Logan, Utah. Viewing will begin at 10 a.m., Funeral service at 11 a.m. The graveside service and burial will take place at 3 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah, 84010. 6 months!! so crazy!!

here are some of abbi's wonderful highlights at 5-6 months old!!

* she loves to play peek-a-boo! we put a burp cloth over her head and she can pull it off!

* she has the most beautiful little hand gestures. so gentle and soft.

* KICK KICK KICK!! she moves those legs soooo fast! we are gonna be in trouble when they hit the floor! she kicks so much, sometimes she kicks out of her jammies!!

* santa brought her a play mat that has a criss cross arch over the top for Christmas! she enjoys playing with the chain that links the 2 sides together and the pictures that hang from the arch.

* if she is fussy she will quiet down when she hares music. her singing pillow is the best!!

* abbi is starting to take longer naps every now and again. wahoo!!

* abbi loves to touch momma's hair. she gently strokes my hair...

* she giggles at lots of things! ... tickling & teasing ...

* her favorite toys right now are: the colored link chains, the fabric crinkle toys and pinkie (little stuffed bear that has a ring all the way around it and rattles)

* binky as been a huge comfort ... and play toy. she is not sucking her thumb as much.

* abbi loves to chew on everything! she is enjoying her teething/cold toys.

* she is eating cereal 2 times a day. we added veggies to her diet: sweet potatoes and carrots.

* she is getting soooooooo close to sitting up on her own!

* laying on her back is still much for enjoyable for her... not liking the tummy too much!

* she loves to stand and walk around the room holding onto our fingers.

* "talks" with her jaw... getting ready for baba and dada

* if there is a toy in front of her she will pick it up and start playing with it!

* abbi smiles alot! she is a very happy baby! and we are so happy to be her momma and daddy!

* she really enjoyed the wrapping paper at Christmas! loves that crinkle sound!

* i love to show abbi what she is going to wear... she smiles and kicks her feet! it sure feels like she likes the outfit too!! :) so fun!

* she is eating very well! and is on a 3 hour schedule for her 5 oz bottles

* abbi is such a sweet little girl! while she is nursing she will rub my arm or play with my shirt. she sometimes will lightly pinch my skin. she also will raise her hand/arm that is on top high into the air! so dang cute!!

* "talks" while nursing! "MMnnnn NNmnnn NMnnMn" GASP!! and then do it all again! silly...

* she has a little bit of a rash on her neck from ... SO MUCH SWABBA!!!! :)

* she is starting to reach her arms out to us when we reach for her... love love love that!!

* when momma is drinking from a cup she thinks that she needs to have a drink too! :) she puts her mouth up to the cup and thinks she is drinking! sometimes she will lick it up like a kitty!

* this girl LOVES her bath!! she really gets in to splashing her little legs and feet in the water! momma and daddy usually end up just as wet as she is!!

* daddy loves to wiggle her mouth as she talks... abbabababbbaaabbabababba... pretty fun!

* her toes are still her favorite thing to play with!

* she thinks its fun to flail her arms all around...

* we have to be careful what we put in front of her... because she will grab anything she can!

* she is getting more hair... kinda a honey color!

* her little arms can just barely reach to the top of her head! every now and again she will just scratch her head... it is pretty cute!

* she loves to read books! well... flip the pages!

* it's a good thing she has lots of darling clothes, because some days we go through several outfits!! swabba, spit up or messy diapers!

* she is an amazing little girl! we love her more and more every day!!

last year a very good friend of mine told me about a project of service they were going to do a as a family! i loved the idea and decided we would do it this year too!! with her help, i compiled a list of projects i thought would be good for my little family.

i want abbi to learn how to love others and be a compassionate person. i want to be more Christ-like as well. i want my sweet husband to feel the joy of sharing with others.

so i now present to you our plan of service...

The Little Project- 2011

Our Family Mission Statement: “A family with a purpose is a family who knows who they are, what they stand for, and what they want from life. They have goals and dreams and plans to make them happen. They are families who live their lives with a purpose.”
We want to be a family with purpose. We believe that because we have been given much we too must give. We hope that as we find fun and creative ways to serve that we will learn to be more thoughtful and caring people. By serving we recognize and are grateful for all the many blessings that our Heavenly Father has given us.
We know that some of the most rewarding activities our family can take part in together are those designed to help others. We want our family to feel closer to each other as we work together for a good cause and share the satisfaction that comes in helping others.

January~ Donate time and food for a Bake Sale for a co-worker who is fighting for her life. Make different treats to bring and spend the day working the bake sale booth.

February~ "Heart Attack" a friend, neighbor or church leader who has blessed our family. Cut out paper hearts in a variety of colors and sizes. Write special messages on the back. Scatter the hearts (possibly with a treat) on a front door, vehicle, etc. for the person (or family) to find .

March~ Contact the Child and Family Support Center and see what we can do to help them this month. Paint, move furniture, pull weeds, make thank you notes etc.

April~ We will each keep $25 in $5 in the glove compartment and drive-thru any fast food and give the attendant a $5 bill towards the payment of the next person in line. My motto has always been … Random Act of Kindness

May~ Look for a particularly happy or well-kept yard in our neighborhood. Write an anonymous note of thanks and mail it or leave it secretly on the doorstep. Express appreciation to this resident for adding beauty to our community.

June~ Take trash bags with us as we go for walks or go to the park and pick up all the trash we see.

July~ Make “my stuff” bags for foster kids so they have something to call their own.

August~ Donate Food. Each time we shop for groceries, add a few items to our cart to donate. When we’ve collected a bagful we'll deliver it to our local food pantry. We all need a variety of food to live healthy lives and that not everyone gets the nutritious food they require.

September~ Pack school lunch boxes for children in need. I’ll contact a local elementary school.

kevin had to work christmas day... so i told abbi that santa knew that her daddy had to work so he was going to make a special trip back to logan ... just for her!!

not that she cared ... being only 5 months old ... but it mattered to us!! :)

kevin also had to work on the 26th, but when he came home we celebrated christmas!! we did our traditional opening of the stockings... and then instead of breakfast, we had dinner! :)

abbi loved getting a play mat, teething rings, a book and crinkle fabrics from santa!

please notice her beautiful stocking!! i designed it and my mom made it!! i love it!! it is sooooo perfect!

then after dinner we opened presents!! so fun! daddy helped her... it took her a minute to get into the swing of things... and then! it was like ok dad!! i got this!! give me some more paper to tear!! :) so funny!!

she had a good time! very exciting!!

... have i mentioned that she loves opening presents? :)

i love spending time with friends and family!!

we had our traditional christmas party with the gang on xmas eve and it was so fun!!

this is the 2nd year that we have drawn names for each other. and then everyone bought for abbi! so fun!!

abbi really enjoyed opening the presents... or at least tearing the paper!! she got such cute things from everyone! toys... clothes... bibs... books... stuffed animals... very neat stuff!!

this little monkey is so fun!! he talks! and abbi loved it!!

and she loves her grandma maryann...

look at all of our loot!! we were sad that kevin wasn't able to be there... but he opened his presents later that night when he got home.

5 months...

i can't believe my little girl is 5 months old!!

here are some of the highlights of her 4-5 month...

* she is eating cereal! :) she is doing pretty well... but she goes from thumb to thumb after each spoonful!

* she is quite the chatter bug! she love to talk and hear her voice!

* abbi still LOVE LOVE LOVES her thumbs!

* and her toes!! :)

* abbi took her first plane ride! and did amazing! kevin, abbi and i flew out to michigan to see my dad the week after thanksgiving. it was a 5 hour flight both ways... and she did great! we were so proud of her!

* abbi loved spending time with papa! it took her a few days to get used to him.. we are not around many men... but once she warmed up to him, she did great.

* she is starting to find her tongue... she sticks it out all of the time... she even has a super cute grin that she sticks her tongue out!

* she is teething... but no teeth... however, there is LOTS AND LOTS of SWABBA!!! (slobber) :)

* she will chew on anyone's fingers/thumbs/hands...

* actually anything that is put in front of her she will try to put in her mouth.

* she loves the swing... i don't always fasten the bar and she has learned to use her legs and kick it up. she loves hearing the toys rattle on the bar when it falls back down.... ya, i now ALWAYS fasten the bar!

* she is learning to play with toys more... her favorites are: the plastic chain links, her fabric crinkle that nanny made for her and the "love bug" that aunt carol sent her- it has a fun jingle to it!

* we also had our first family pictures taken for our christmas card! she did so well! even though it was getting a little chilly... by the end her nose was a cute pink color...

* when she sees mom or dad abbi's total body is excited!! her face lights up and she kicks and kicks! it is nice to know that she knows who we are... :)

* abbi is such a happy little girl! sometimes she smiles so big that her nose will crinkle up and her eyes will squint! it is darling!

* she has the CUTEST little giggle that she does when she is teased or tickled...

* abbi is starting to notice her hands and their movements.

* she likes to be standing when she is being held. she wants to be up and moving!

* abbi loves her daddy!! it is so cute to see them together! when he is in the room she watches every move he makes! her eyes never leave him...

* she had her first thanksgiving! we all went over to grandma maryann's house! it was fun! she wore her "my first thanksgiving" onesie! so darling!

* she is starting to really blow raspberries and blow bubbles! anything funky with her mouth!

* abbi really squeals when she is excited!

* when we call her name she still will not look over at us... but turns when she hears our voices.

* crying or not... this darling is so cute!!

* socks are really hard to keep on her because she is always kicking!!

* KICK KICK KICK!! one day i went to get her after her nap... she had kicked her pants right off!! crazy girl!

* when i am nursing her or giving her a bottle she will groan or growl a little... it is quite funny...

* abbi will hold her head up really high when she is on her tummy. she likes to look around and see what is going on!

* she really loves her bathtime! she splashes and splashes!! i usually get just as wet as she does!!

* she loves music!! when she hears any music she will usually quiet down and listen. she has a little pillow that you can wind up and it plays "lullaby and goodnight"... her favorite! we usually wind it up when we are getting her ready for bed.

* while we were in michigan we were able to go to the worlds largest christmas store... bronners!! amazing! we were so lucky!! cuz santa clause was there the day we went!! so abbi was able to meet santa for the first time! she did really well on his lap. a blank stare ... but better than crying! :)

* my dad gave abbi a little outfit that says... "santa's favorite"! i love it!! and it is sooooooooooo true!! :)

we love you abbi! you are the light of our lives!!

In Germany, Nikolaus is usually celebrated on a small scale. Many children put a boot called Nikolaus-Stiefel (Nikolaus boot) outside the front door on the night of 5 December. St. Nicholas fills the boot with gifts and sweets overnight, and at the same time checks up on the children to see if they were good, polite and helpful the last year. If they were not, they will have a tree branch (Rute) in their boots instead.

Sometimes a disguised Nikolaus also visits the children at school or in their homes and asks them if they have been good (sometimes ostensibly checking his golden book for their record), handing out presents on a per-behavior basis. This has become more lenient in recent decades.

my family is of german decent, so my uncle steve sent abbi a box from st nicholas. there was a letter from st nicholas and presents to put in abbi's shoes. she doesn't really have shoes right now, so we put out her slippers instead. :)

4 months already!!

here are some of abbi's fabulous moments of the last month!

* Abbi fusses a few mins at nap time, then falls asleep and usually sleeps for about an hour.

* Bedtime: falls asleep eating then down for the night. she sleeps about 7-8 hours.

* Still loves fingers!

* She doesn't like being on her tummy, so she flips over as soon as she can to her back.

* Loves toes! Holds onto and nibbles!

* Grabs pant legs to get to her toes!!

* Laughs when playing peekaboo. Behind sheet/towel..

* Always moving!

* Totally relaxes in the tub. Puts arms up by head.

* Giggling more when played with.

* Day long are trip to see uncle sam!

* We did a little photo shoot in the leaves in our front yard. She was soooooo dang cute!! She just sat there and smiled and played!

* Starting to rub eyes when tired- so cute!

* Noticed and watches hands

* Lifts arm above head when eating, also crooks top leg.

* Abbi loves anything that crinkles! Plastic, paper, toys...

* Loves being upside down

* Raises both arms above head! Darling!!

* Starting blowing raspberries

* Reaches for toys when they are in front of her. Can’t quite get them yet though.

* Halloween was fun! We had fun dressing up as matching pumpkins! :)

* Her favorite toy is her plastic chain. It is lots of pretty colors and is fun to chew on. She likes the clacking sound it makes.

* Doesn't have much patience...

* Likes to pull herself up when holding our hands or fingers.

* About 14 weeks she started talking up a storm! We just sit and listen to her sweet little jabber.

We feel so blessed to be her parents. She is such a sweet girl.

3 months old...

i can't believe abbi is 3 months old!! :)

here are the highlights of the last month! :)* we started doing consistant tummy time! she isn't all that impressed... :)

* with doing tummy time more often, she did roll over from her tummy to her back!! and then she is much happier!

* she is smiling more and more everyday! we love seeing that beautiful little smile!

* her smiles started out with a cute little shy/flirty smile where she would duck her head and smile at you. melts me everytime!

* right before she crys she gets a little pouty face and sticks out her bottom lip. it is really quite cute... i try not to giggle too loud when she starts to cry.

* she is eating really well. we conquered the 2 hour schedule and then moved on to a 2 1/2 hours one!

* abbi gets so excited about eating that she "pats" momma while she is eating. it is so cute! her little hands just love making sure momma is still there! :)

* she is our little cuddler. and she loves to touch skin while she is nestled in. usually reaches under our shirts to touch our chest. so sweet.

* what a little swabba monster!! lots and lots of slobber!!

* we have gotten into a nice routine of giving her a bath everynight. she loves it!! loves to spash her feet. i am not sure she knows what she is doing, but she smiles when she does it.

* when the weather was a little nicer, we would try to take a walk with the stroller in the evenings too. abbi loved looking around and seeing all the cool stuff on our walks!

* abbi loves our ceiling fans!! we have one in her room, in the living room and in our bedroom. she is totally fascinated by them!

* she is starting to "play" with toys more. we have a few rattles and stuffed animals that are quickly becoming her favorite things to grab for. she is still more interested in chewing on her fists and fingers, but she does enjoy hearing the rattle noises and getting kisses from the stuffed animals!

* at about 10 weeks old she noticed herself in the mirror! and smiled at herself! she will also look at us in the mirror and smile at us too.

* she still uses the binky on occasion, but if she wants to smile... spit!! out it goes!

* in our 2 1/2 - 3 hour schedule we : eat, play and sleep. during play time we have a ton of fun!! we read books, go for a walk, play with toys, help momma put away laundry, swing, floor/tummy time...

* naptime has been a struggle. she has gotten better about sleeping for naps, but wouldn't lay in her bed. for a few weeks if i cuddled her she would go to sleep right away and then we could lay her in her bed. then we just decided to lay her in bed... she cries for a few minutes and then falls asleep. somedays are better than others, but for the most part she will go to sleep fairly well and sleep for an hour or so.

* abbi is a mover!! she is moving all of the time!! she kicks when laying down and will kick off any blanket! what a cutie!!

* october is my favorite month of the year! and i have gotten abbi several fun october/halloween outfits!! this little black onsie with a orange tutu is my favorite!! :)

* she is always chewing on her fists or hands! sometimes she gets so into the chewing that she chokes or gags on them! silly girl!! around 12 weeks old she started sucking on her left thumb too!! it is so cute! one time it is the right... the next time its the left! :) on a few occasions she will stick BOTH thumbs in her mouth and suck them! she intertwines her little fingers too! darling!

* it is fun that she recognizes us (mom, dad and nanny). she will follow us as we move around a room. or look for us if she hears our voices.

* i went back to work just a few days after abbi turned 12 weeks old. it was a rough thing for me. i missed being home with her in the mornings. she is such a sweetie. we were both pretty worn out after that first day... so we took a nap together! :)

* the weekend before i went back to work my wonderful friend, ruth, and her little family came to visit us!! they loved abbi and it was so great to spend time with them!!

* she loves to be standing up or sitting up! she wants to be part of the action! no more laying down in the boppy!! :) or rare at least. her new favorite is the bumbo, that way she can sit up and be part of whatever is going on.

i love my birthday!

i usually have a countdown that starts on the first...

i usually read 2 special birthday books every night...

i usually think about my birthday all day long...

i usually sing a little song that i made up when i was sixteen...

this year i did none of it!!

my birthday kinda snuck up on me! it seems that i have been a tad distracted... :)

i had a great birthday anyway...

had a kinda lazy morning. abbi was a little fussy even though i kept telling her it was momma's special day. she didn't really care! :)

we went out to dinner with friends and then back to their house for cake and presents.

it was a perfect day! all i have ever wanted really.

surrounded by family and friends with my sweet husband and daughter.

so... happy birthday to me!!

time sure flies when you are having fun!!
i can't believe our sweet little abbi is already 2 months old!

here are some of her highlights the last month!

* abbi got thrush at about 5 weeks old! :( she got it from my antibiotic i was taking for my c-section incision. poor little thing! it was rough... for both of us!! she had it for about 3 weeks. finally after 2 weeks of one med the dr changed it to some high powered stuff! the thrush was gone within 18 hours!! nice.

* she grew out of her newborn diapers and moved on to size 1 at 6 weeks old. it was a sad day... she is growing up so fast!

* abbi is still pretty gassy. and takes gas medicine after most feedings. and with that gas comes some really stinky toots!! :) it's good though! i'd rather have them out than rolling around in her little tummy!

* she smiled at momma all on her own at 5 weeks old! it sure did melt my heart! we all think she is the most beautiful baby in the world! you put a smile on her and the beauty triples!! :)

* at around 4 weeks old abbi slept until 2am instead of her normal midnight! wahoo!! we got a 4 hour block of sleep! so nice!!

* every girl needs painted toes, right? i thought so too! :)

* abbi has played with the idea of sucking her thumb, but by 7 weeks old she in convinced it is the coolest thing to to!! i wasn't so convinced... but it is cute and it helps her settle herself. it's funny to hear her slurpping away... sure enough! there is her thumb! :)

* she is such a little cuddle and snuggle bug! we love to cuddle with her!

* abbi usually falls asleep in the car! she travels super well! kevin and i took her down to see my brother, sam. it was a 17 hour day! most of it in the car! she did great! she got a little fussy about an hour from home on the way back! we had a good visit and abbi loves her uncle sam!!

* when kevin is out of town abbi and i will lay in my bed and just talk and be lazy after her 7am feeding. she is such a morning girl. she is the happiest in the 7am 11am timeframe. what a good girl she is!

* her eyelashes are getting longer! i didn't realize that it takes awhile for eyelashes to grow! they are so pretty!

* not only are her eyelashes getting longer, but so is her hair! it is much more noticable now! it is so cute! i was sure that when she was born she would be bald... but she has hair!! love it! of course we don't leave the house without a cute headband or bow on! :)

* around week 6 abbi is enjoying being in the swing more. if she is settled she will swing for about 15-20 mins. then it gets old and she starts to fuss... :)

* we have ventured out to restaurants a few times too! it has been very successful! abbi has been amazing, since she is usually colic-y during dinner time!

* and the colic. yuck! her worst hours are between 6-9pm. very fussy... screaming as well! not our fun time, that is for sure! :( i am told she will grow out of it... hope it is true.

* this month we have had some really cool visits from friend from out of town!! noe, angie and kristy and mary! it is so fun to get visitors!

* when she had thrush, we had to use a new binky and bottle top nipple every day. in the process of throwing away binky's everyday we found out that abbi does not like the cute colorful binky's from the store... even if they are identical to ones we got free from the dr office. oh no... this girl likes the free ones!! :)

* around 7 weeks abbi started nestling into momma with her binky and going to sleep without any problem. however, that only last a week or so...

* we call abbi our "zero to 60" baby! she will go from calm, smiling and happy on minute to mad, upset and ticked off the next! her little hands will flail around and she will swat away anything used to try and comfort her... ie... binky, momma's hands, blanket... yikes.

* abbi got her first cold at 8 weeks old! :( it is so sad to see her like that! stuffy nose, coughing and sneezing! bummer! we have a humidfier for her room and lots of boogie wipes and the nose bulb thingy... poor little girl! all things considered though, she has been pretty pleasant through it all though!

* the big event this month was her blessing! on sunday, september 12 kevin blessed abbi. it was a super special day surrounded by lots of friends and family! she looked so beautiful and was a really good girl! only fussed a couple of times.

we sure love our little girl!
she has changed our lives forever.
and what a wonderful change she is!

today was abbi's blessing!

she was so beautiful in her dress!

she was a good little girl and just fussed a tad during the blessing!

my mom made her dress and the hair bow! i love it! it is just what i pictured! the sheer fabric is the same fabric that my wedding veil was made out of! i totally love this dress!
i even made abbi and i matching bracelets! :)

she is such a blessing to our family!

we decided to have a private blessing and not in sacrament meeting. it was perfect for us! we had lots of friends there to support us!

we ordered food and had a luncheon afterwards for everyone to enjoy. mmmmm!

kevin did a great job! we were both pretty nervous, but everything turned out perfect!

i am one lucky girl to have this wonderful man as my husband!

and this darling little girl as my daughter!

i am feeling very blessed today! love my family and friends!

a few nights ago i had one of the best moments as a mom!

i had just finished nursing abbi and she was a little fussy, as usual. but i needed her to stay awake just a little longer so we could give her some medicine.

i kicked the recliner back and we started talking... :) she quieted down and we just looked at each other and talked! she told me some stories and i told her some!

she hadn't been that calm in a few days and i was so happy that she wasn't crying! it felt good to know that i was the one who had calmed her down. i was the one she trusted to feel safe at that moment. i was the one she was happy with.

but in reality... she was the one i wanted to be with at that moment. she was the one who was making me feel happy. she was the one that i trusted to tell my stories to.

she in mine.

that is one crazy thought and feeling. i love her way more than i ever thought i could!

it was such a special hour or so.

i can't believe that a month has gone by already!!

time sure flies when you are having fun with a baby!! :)

here are some of our favorite highlights of the last month with abbi!

(huge thanks to maryruth for the darling month stickers!!)

- she has the most beautiful eyes!

- her umbilical cord fell off on day 11.

- we had 2 fabulous friends take newborn pics of her! i loved them all! it helps to have the most beautiful baby in the world though... :)

- i love when she smiles (gas or not) it lights up the entire room!

- she is not too sure about the swing yet... we are still trying though.

- she has had some fabulous friends from out of town come and visit her... aunt carrie (my cousin), kris and richard, kristy and mary.

- after several rough nights i had a friend reccommend the book, baby wise. the basics of the book are eat, play and sleep. in that order. we are trying to keep to that routine. some days are better than others! :)

- we love putting on a new outfit every day! i don't think we have had any duplicates!

- she doesn't like to have her hands covered at all!! we can wrap her all up nice and tight, but those hands better be out or we will hear about it!

- her nursery is finally put together. it is a small room, but it is cute! i decorated in blue and green with yellow and pink accents.

- we took our first big adventure in the car! we drove down to slc to drop my cousin carrie off at the airport. on the way home we even stopped by babies r us! fun!

- she lifts her head constantly... love to look around! so curious with those big pretty eyes!

- she is still pretty fussy... mostly at nights between 6-9

-abbi doesn't have much patience... she can go from happy and pleasant to super mad and crying in about half a second! now... does that come from her mom... or dad... :)

- we love that she is starting to sleep around 4 hours at night! more sleep for momma!

- she is such a beautiful girl! we think she gets cuter each and every day!

- her weight: she was not back up to her birth weight by her 2 week mark (5 oz under) so her dr wanted us to add 1 oz of milk (formula or breast milk) after each feeding. and then to come back to the office for 3 consecutive weeks to have her checked again. at the first check she was doing well, gaining like she should. at the second week she had gained too much and they wanted me to cut the extra milk off. i was worried that it was going to be a rough week in the little household! but at the 3rd check she was doing fine! whew! and... that rough week wasn't too bad.

- the bad part about losing the extra milk at each feeding is that the meal didn't last as long. so we went from feeding every 3 hours to every 2 hours!

- she is tickleish... her belly, ribs, legs and feet... it is so fun to see her sqirm around when we tickle her!

- i love being this little girls mom... she is such a sweet girl!

the first month has gone by so quickly! it makes me sad and excited all at the same time! i am learning how important it is to cherish every moment...

Happy Birthday my sweet little girl!!

One week old today!!

there are so many things i want to remember about this first week of your life, so i am going to share them here...* i was in labor for about 24 hours, but only realized it 5 hours in...

* you were born c-section

* your dad held you first and i am convinced it was love at first sight for him. :)

* i cried when i heard you cry for the first time. you were finally here, and i was so happy!

* you had hair!! something we didn't think would be the case! we thought you would be bald for sure!

* feeding you for the first time was an amazing experience. it was also the first time i was able to hold you.

* you nanny and papa were at the hospital when you were born. and they saw you for the first time in the nicu window when dad was helping clean you up.

* you are beautiful. no doubt in my mind, you are truly the most beautiful baby ever!

* and you look JUST LIKE YOUR DAD!!

* you are a very sweet baby
* everyone at the hospital was very nice to us! they all loved you!
* it took us a few days to figure out how to feed you.
* you have a short fuse when it comes to feeding time... you want food and you want it now!! :)
* i fall in love all over again with you everytime you look into my eyes!
* your daddy loves to hold you! and everytime he does he says... "you are so pretty"! i hear him say that alot! it is so true! you are soooo pretty! and i love watching your dad fall in love with you more and more each time he looks at you!
* you have long fingers and toes... not sure where you got those from!
* we all struggled (mom, dad and nanny) your first night home. we lovingly refer to that night as "black monday". :) i felt so bad because we just couldn't figure out how to help you eat. you were not happy. i think you got the most sleep out of all of us. there were tears shed by all... happy and sad. :)
* after meeting with a lactation specialist the next morning, we made huge progress in helping you eat! new binkies and bottle tops! what a difference! wahoo!!
* you have started to lift your little head up and look around when you are laying on my shoulder. you don't want to miss anything going on around you!
* you have changed your routine about 10 times in the last few days. :)
* my favorite time of the day is after you have eaten and you snuggle up in a little ball on my chest and we just snuggle. it melts me everytime.
* gas or no gas, you smile quite often at us. i believe it is a true smile. and it the most precious thing i have ever seen!
* and... you do have gas. i feel bad your little tummy is hurting. we are giving you drops to help you feel better with it.
* you are such a sweet baby, pretty relaxed majority of the time
* you make lots little cooing noises while you sleep
* we love that you are a cuddle bug... just like mom and dad :)
* you are a very pretty baby. and we all love to just look at you
* you have the most beautiful blue eyes
* when you are looking around at everything you usually have your little hands and feet crossed
* all of the family came over for a one week birthday party for you tonight! they even had presents and birthday cupcakes for you! you were so good! just chilled outside with us!
* when i am around you, i feel closer to my Heavenly Father
* i am so grateful to be your momma
* you are perfect in every way
* you are healthy and strong
* you are loved by so many people
* you are our miracle and we thank Heavenly Father each moment for you

sweet little abbi, you are truly an amazing little girl and your dad and i love you more and more each day! you are beautiful and perfect. sweet and loving.

we couldn't be more happy! she is an amazing little girl!

and in all honesty... the most beautiful baby on the planet! we are totally in love!

i will share abbi's arrival story later, but for now just enjoy her cuteness. :)

hi! i am still here! :) i thought i better update this before our sweet baby arrives...

things are going pretty well! we moved! a few bits of craziness here and there, but overall it was very successful! we are still living amongst a million boxes, but that will change someday! :)

i have about 3-4 boxes left in the kitchen, just not sure where they are gonna go. this new home is smaller than our other one so it is an adjustment to find places for everything. lots of trips to the DI! the bedroom is full of boxes that i need to sort through. i am going to have my scrapbook area in the bedroom, so that is going to be an adjustment too. my project today is try and get the scrapbook stuff somewhat sorted so that i can move my bed the way i want it and make room for the baby's bassinet. (i am being super careful and leaving the heavy stuff for kevin and mom to do when kevin gets home tonight). :)

i am feeling pretty good too. my due date is in 3 days, but i am thinking she will just come when she wants to. i feel her moving lots during the day and that is fun! she loves music. always starts dancing when she hears it. :) so cute!

my feet are in a constant state of swollen, but i try to rest every little bit and prop them up. i am hot all of the time, but that is normal too... i am normally hot in the summer, add baby and i am really feeling the heat! :)

i am still able to sleep on my tummy, at least most of the time. but i have to ease into it. if i go straight to my stomache the baby starts knocking telling me she doesn't like it! :) so i go slow... back, side and then tummy! she is ok with that! :)

kevin and i went through all of her stuff last weekend and found all of the 0-3 months cloths. i washed them this week and am trying to pick a outfit out to bring her home in. :) so fun! and so crazy! next week this time i could have a little sweet baby in my arms! wow...

well, i better get back to moving stuff... just wanted everyone to know i was doing well. :)

ok ok... i am still here! well sorta! :)

life has been completely crazy! what is new? right?

~ yesterday was my inventory for work. big day. huge. i survived!

not only did i survive, but we did well! thanks to the hard work of my team.

~ we are moving on saturday into our first home! we are so excited!

lots to do still, but we are doing it!! painters are almost done. handy man is starting to build the pantry and master closet today. electrician is coming today or tomorrow to do a few things!

~ and then... the event of a lifetime!!

our baby girl is coming sometime in the next 4 weeks!!! wahoo!

so... until further notice...

a year makes...

you may all remember my last mother's day post... it was a tough one.

again, a friend of mine said it best...

"Don't take this wrong, but I sorta hate Mother's Day, ( I adore, love and honor my own Mother) and I admit this year (is) easier now that I (am pregnant). But after 7 years of infertility, Mother's Day seems like a swear word, and it has a not very lovely spot in my heart.

I am one of those people who want to hide away in my house and not leave AT ALL, so that I don't have to interact with anyone or hear that awkward pause, "uh...happy uh Mother's Day" Or the "you're a mother too". I know these things are said with good intentions, and from people that I love, but it always hurt.

I still have my insecurities, but I have been given the gift I most long for so I am thankful to God for that. So, now on Mother's day my heart ache for those that don't have what I have, because I know how it feels, and I just want you to know that I love you all, and hope you make it through this day. "

i am so blessed to have my sweet husband. i love him more and more everyday. and i am so grateful for my mom and all that she does for us. and i am extremely blessed to be given this little life growing inside of me! for that, i am forever grateful.

but i feel a tad like a hypocrite... just because i am gonna be a mom now, doesn't mean that all of my previous mother's day thoughts and feeling can go away.

i do have a different perspective of it now, amazing what years of not having something will do for a girl!! but, i think the day is more of a day to celebrate being a women, not just a mom.

so, here is to you!! all of you wonderful friends out there! some i have met in person, others just through this amazing thing we call the internet. i have learned something (many things) valuable from each of you.

30 weeks!!

i have really enjoyed being pregnant and since this whole experience is such a miracle i wanted to take a minute and share some of the things i love/don't love about being pregnant.

at 30 weeks along ...

** i can feel my baby move more and more! i love it! i probably didn't really know i was feeling her until i was about 20 weeks along or so, now i feel her all of the time! very cool.

** i have a baby bump! i am a bigger girl and so noticing that i am pregnant is not as easy as it is for smaller gals. my tummy is starting to show more. i like that, but sometimes i just look like i have gained weight. i don't let it bother me, cuz i know it is my baby.

** i have only had heartburn a couple of times. i am very lucky that it hasn't bothered me much. i just take 2 tums and i am good to go.

** when i am sitting at a desk or table i feel her move lower in my belly. when i am relaxed on the couch or in bed she is up high by my belly button.

** a few weeks ago i was laying in bed reading my pregnancy book and all of a sudden the book jumped! i kinda giggled and put the book down and watched my tummy. sure enough, she was going to town!! i could see my belly just bouncing all over the place! so dang cool!! i wish kevin would have been home to see it too!

** my lower and upper back hurts if i sit for too long in one place. lots of pillows and movement are the key for me.

** i am a stomach sleeper and i am still able to sleep that way!! i am not sure how much longer that will be the case, but for now i am enjoying it!!

** i get up to go to the restroom every few hours!! not fun. i told my best friend the other day that i thought the baby thought my bladder was like a trampoline! bounce. bounce. bounce.

** she loves american idol. whenever it is on she is dancing all over the place!

** i get more excited and nervous everyday.

** i think we have decided on a name for sure. but we aren't wanting to tell everyone yet. :)

** kevin is so dang cute! he will get right up close to my belly and say " hello baby!! it is your dad! i love you! your mama and i can't wait to meet you in july! you need to stay in there and get strong and healthy. we love you! "

** i love kevin. he is going to be an amazing daddy.

** we have been taking lots of classes for the baby too... early pregnancy and infant safety are done. prepared childbirth, breastfeeding and new parenting are coming up!! wow....

** this is such an amazing experience. i decided long ago that if/when i ever got pregnant that i would love it. i think it is such a cool thing and i am so honored to be able to carry my child. i love being pregnant and i wouldn't trade it for the world.

8 freakin' wonderful years!!

wow... how the time flies!! i am so excited to be married to this wonderful man! he is so good to me. i am so blessed!!

we have a 8 freakin' wonderful years together! lots of ups and downs! and i wouldn't change any of it!

it is cool to celebrate this anniversary knowing that we will be adding another little one to our family this summer! we are so excited!

we had a really fun couple of days together! we had about 2 1/2 days to just relax and have fun! yesterday we took a little day trip down to riverdale and layton. we started off the day at babies r us! what a fun store!! we even found the perfect stroller!! i wrote all the info down so we can decide to either register for it or we can just use money from our baby account to buy it! i am very excited about it! i think its gonna be a good one!!

then we headed to lunch! the place kevin wanted to try was no longer there, so we hit our anniversary traditional- famous daves! gosh!! love them! such good food!! poor little kev loved the texas pit bbq sauce so much he got a little bit on his white t-shirt. so we did a quick trip to walmart to get him a new shirt! :)

then our adventure took us to target! we looked at baby stuff there and found some cute onesies. along with some other things we were looking for... new lunch box and water bottle! i know... we are pretty exciting people! :)

we decided to take a look at the movie options and found that clash of the titans in 3D started in 5 mins!! off we went! it was a pretty good movie! kevin liked the action... of course!

after the movie we (well, I) wanted to go to the quilted bear! so off we went! kevin found some really funny sleep shorts and i found the cutest stuffed giraffe ever!! it was fun just to wander and see all of the neat crafty stuff people have made! love the quilted bear!

we were wearing down at this point, so we decided to go to dinner at ruby river steakhouse and then head home! mmmm... dinner was good! we had never been there and we weren't disappointed! delish!!

what a fun day! doing whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted to do it!

today was more of our lazy and relaxing day! we spent the majority of it sitting on the couch, all cuddled up, watching movies! doesn't get better than that! mom surprised us with buying us steaks so we could grill them up at home and not have to leave! so nice!

then... we decided to put a bid in on a house!! we have been looking at the house for a month or so, just not sure what to do! but today we took the leap of faith! it is a cute little house, 4 bedroom, 2 bath. not my dream home, but it will be good for us for now. i am hoping all goes well and we are able to work with the seller to figure out the details!

so... that was our 8 year wedding anniversary celebration! we both had a fabulous couple of days and it was great to be able to spend so much time together!

i love this man!

random thoughts...

it has been awhile since i have posted anything real on here... so here are my random thoughts for the day!

* Girl Scout Cookies! I know that I am not a GS anymore, but I sure act like it!! I sold over 100 boxes of cookies for my friends little girl!! Crazy!! I just talked to people at work to see if they wanted any… yup. They did!! Wow! Lots of cookies! Good thing I am pacing myself!!

* We went and looked at houses again this week. I am not too thrilled about any of them… considering a couple, but nothing really screams at me. One of the houses is in a nice neighborhood and area. Very established and quiet. The house just got marked down pretty low and it is a 4 bedroom 2 ½ bath. The problem is that the front of the house has settled and you can feel the unbalance while standing in the rooms. There is a pretty big crack in the kitchen ceiling and down the hallway. Our realtor (who is a very good friend of mine) is trying to find a building contractor who will just walk through it with us to see if it is safe and/or worth fixing up. If it can be fixed, how much would it cost? We are wondering if we could add that amount onto the amount of the home loan and then pay someone to fix it. We would also have to have the entire home re-carpeted and painted. So, nice house, but lots of work! I am just not sure that it is going to be worth it in the long run! I am having doubts this week. Hopefully we can figure out something soon. In order to get the tax credit we need to be under contract by 30 April.

* In the spirit of moving I have started bringing home boxes from work! To pack with! It is very overwhelming to look at all of the junk/crap/cool stuff we have! And then to think about packing… it scares me!! So I figure if I pack a little bit every weekend, I actually might get it done and not be too overwhelmed! That is my goal: 3-4 boxes a week. Last weekend I packed the books on my bookshelf. I am not reading them right now and I figure they will easily fill up a few boxes!! Good plan, huh? I also think in the next few weekends I can work on my scrapbook room a little too. I haven’t really been in the mood to scrap, so I might as well get packing!! And then… maybe some of the upper kitchen cupboards! There is stuff up there I am not even sure I knew I had!! Hee hee!

* I had another Dr’s appt on Monday. It went well. I have only gained 10 lbs since I have been pregnant. (I am over 5 months along!!) That is pretty good, but I don’t wanna gain too much more since I am so overweight as it is. As long as the baby is healthy and strong, that is an ok thing to do. Most women gain 25-30 lbs, but for me that is not a good idea. Anyway, the heartbeat was strong and everything looks good. I am supposed to get another fancy ultrasound in a few weeks so that can look at the spine and heart again. I guess the tech wasn’t able to get very good shots of the baby last time cuz she was so wiggly. I am feeling her more every day. It is fun to know she is in there! Well, I think that is what I am feeling! I read in my book today that she is almost a foot long and weighs a little less than 2 lbs. Cool….

* Have you heard about Bountiful Baskets? It is a food co-op where we can get a huge basket of fruits and vegetables for only $15! They are a weekly thing and I love it!! The website opens on Monday afternoons and we pick the food up on Saturday! I missed it last week, but I am getting one this Saturday! The pick up locations fill up fast!!

* We are starting to take some Pre-Natal and Baby classes next week. There are about 7-8 classes that the hospital offers for mom and dad to be. We signed up for most of them and will be going to them over the next few months. Usually it is just an evening class 6:30-8:30. I am excited! Some of the classes include: early pregnancy, parenting, infant safety, breastfeeding and birthing. They even include a tour of the hospital so we know where we are going when the time comes! Since we are so new to this baby thing, I am hoping they will teach Kevin and I something!

* Kevin hasn’t had much luck with a job. He is still hating what he is doing. I feel so bad for him, cuz he is so miserable. He has applied for a few places that are a little more local, so that is good.

* I have really been in the mood for solitaire again!! I have to play everyday!!

I will do better about updating more!!
