What a beautiful thing to celebrate! The Love of our Savior!
President Gordon B. Hinckley on Easter...
"This is Easter morning. This is the Lord’s day, when we celebrate the greatest victory of all time, the victory over death.
Those who hated Jesus thought they had put an end to Him forever when the cruel spikes pierced His quivering flesh and the cross was raised on Calvary. But this was the Son of God, with whose power they did not reckon. Through His death came the Resurrection and the assurance of eternal life. None of us can fully understand the pain He bore as He prayed in Gethsemane and subsequently hung in ignominy between two thieves while those who looked at Him taunted Him and said, “He saved others; himself he cannot save” (Matt. 27:42; Mark 15:31).
With sorrow unspeakable those who loved Him placed His wounded, lifeless body in the new tomb of Joseph of Arimathea. Gone was hope from the lives of His Apostles, whom He had loved and taught. He to whom they had looked as Lord and Master had been crucified and His body laid in a sealed tomb. He had taught them of His eventual death and Resurrection, but they had not understood. Now they were forlorn and dejected. They must have wept and wondered as the great stone was rolled to seal the burial place.
The Jewish Sabbath passed. Then came a new day, a day that ever after was to be the Lord’s day. In their sorrow Mary Magdalene and the other women came to the tomb. The stone was no longer in place. Curiously they looked inside. To their astonishment the tomb was empty.
Distraught and fearful, Mary ran to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved. She cried, “They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him” (John 20:2).
They came running, and their fears were confirmed. Disconsolate, they looked and then “went away again unto their own home” (John 20:10).
“But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
“And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
“And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
“And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
“Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God” (John 20:11–17).
She who had loved Him so much, she who had been healed by Him, was the first to whom He appeared. There followed others, even, as Paul declares, up to 500 brethren at one time (see 1 Cor. 15:16).
Now the Apostles understood what He had tried to teach them. Thomas, on feeling of His wounds, declared, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28).
Can anyone doubt the veracity of that account? No event of history has been more certainly confirmed. There is the testimony of all who saw and felt and spoke with the risen Lord. He appeared on two continents in two hemispheres and taught the people before His final ascension. Two sacred volumes, two testaments speak of this most glorious of all events in all of human history. But these are only accounts, the faithless critic says. To which we reply that beyond these is the witness and the testimony, borne by the power of the Holy Ghost, of the truth and validity of this most remarkable event. Through the centuries untold numbers have paid with the sacrifice of their comforts, their fortunes, their very lives for the convictions they carried in their hearts of the reality of the risen, living Lord.
And then comes the ringing testimony of the Prophet of this dispensation that in a wondrous theophany he saw and was spoken to by the Almighty Father and the Risen Son. That vision, glorious beyond description, became the wellspring of this The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with all the keys, authority, and power found therein, and the sustaining comfort to be found in the testimony of its people.
There is nothing more universal than death, and nothing brighter with hope and faith than the assurance of immortality. The abject sorrow that comes with death, the bereavement that follows the passing of a loved one are mitigated only by the certainty of the Resurrection of the Son of God that first Easter morning."

can i just tell you...
what a great man that i married!
kevin and i will be celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary on monday, 9 April 2007! wow! how time flies by!
anyway... i wanted to make a big deal out of our anniversary, not just the usual thing! well, we are a little tight on money right now and kevin, being the thrifty person that he is, suggested that we just stay home this weekend.
i will be honest, i was not all that excited about the idea. i wanted it to be special, different. not just another regular weekend at home.
kevin said that he had a surprise planned for me this morning... the only catch was that we had to leave our house at 5am in order to do it!
well, i decided that if he was going to take the time and plan something special, like i asked him too, then i should at least do it... (without complaining!)
so, off we go at 5am on a saturday... i kinda slept when we got in the car. before i knew it, we were in bear lake!
he pulled up to a construction site on the top of the mountain and we sat there and waited for the sunrise! it was beautiful! i loved it!
we have been wanting to do something like this for so long! just never had the chance to do so!
what a great anniversary gift! he gave me a mountain, a lake and a beautiful sunrise to go with it! i wish that i had taken my camera! (then again, that would have spoiled the surprise!)
anyway... it was a great start to a great day!

things that make me happy today...
here is a list of things that make me happy today...
1. it is friday! love it! love the weekend! love it all!
2. girl scout cookies! i have a friend that has a girl scout and i have been the delivery girl for all of the orders that i gathered for her. what fun! i love girl scout cookies!
3. spring time! it is beginning to look alot like spring time! ya!
4. my family and friends! i get to see my cute mommy tomorrow! i am soooo excited! i also am going to meet up with a friend of mine from las vegas. i haven't seen her in 2 1/2 years! (hi noe!)
5. babies! i know of at least 6 babies that have been born in the last 2 weeks! i love babies! i want to hold one! (holly, i am going to come over next week and hold your precious little baby... for a long time!... i hope that is ok!)
6. $$ to pay off bills! i got a bonus check yesterday at work and we used most of it to pay off some bills! i am so proud of us! we are acting like grown-ups! that is huge for us! -plus kevin starts his job again on monday! so we will have a steady paycheck again! wahoo!

Let me tell you...
how much fun i had last weekend!
can you say "scrapbook"? i sure can! last weekend was a scrapbookers dream for me! there is a cool house in logan that a bunch of us rented to scrap! the house was set up just for that! there are tables in the living room, tables in one of the "bedrooms" and lots of snacks stocked in the kitchen!
there was about 20 of us that took advantage of this great adventure! i got there about 3pm on friday and left sunday night @ 5:30pm! some people came for a few hours, some stayed a night or two and then there were some of us that had come to PARTY! we "rented" the home from friday afternoon until tuesday morning! what a great time!

i was a scrapin' fool! i completed 114 pages and 3 mini albums! cool huh? now, let me clarify... my pages were not all decked out with all the cute and fun embellishments, but i did get things done that i have been wanting to do for a long time. you know... the stuff like newspaper clippings of friends and family, big events like extreme makeover: home edition, and articles of a tragic event that took the life of one of my friends.
wedding announcements, funeral programs, baby announcements and just life in general. i had a terrific weekend and made lots of new and fun memories with some very good friends!
a huge thanks to barbi, emily, joann, tamera, tiffany and britt for making my weekend all that it was!
we will be back to do it all again in the fall!

Random things about me...
ok... i was tagged by my friend maryruth to list 5 random things about me...
so here is my list! (kevin helped me with this list...)
1. my biggest pet peeve in the whole world is twisted phone cords! i have been known to untwist cords at stores, schools and offices! this also includes any cord that may have the opportunity to get twisted! seriously... how hard is it to un-twist it!!!??
2. i love watching "Days of our Lives"! i have been watching it regularly for about a year! i "dvr" it every day and watch it when i get home! i even have the theme song as the ringer on my phone!!!!
3. i have all of my clothes in my closet hanging by color... and they are in the same order as the rainbow! red orange yellow green blue purple (grey, white, brown and black)
4. i am very particular in which the toilet paper is placed on the roller thingy... i HAVE to have it rolling off of the top. NOT from the bottom! why? i have no idea, i just know that is the way it has to be. i have never changed the direction at someone else's home, but i have been known to change it in hotels and definitely at home! it could be in the middle of the night and i am half asleep... and i will switch it to the way i like it.
5. i really love to sleep and i like to give myself a little bit of a warning that it is time to get up! i will ususally set my alarm about 30 minutes before i really need to get up. that gives me the opportunity to hit the snooze button a few times before i have to get up. somehow i feel like i have cheated the system and got to sleep a little bit longer than i was supposed to! i do feel bad for kevin, because he gets to wake up every 9 minutes for 30-45 minutes until i get up! oops!

i am sick of my church clothes! i am in desperate need of some new church clothes. i love skirts and have some cool ones, but i think the rule is that if you wear them 4 weeks in a row, they loose their "coolness". pretty sure that was the rule.
well, in search of new dresses/skirts, i found NOTHING! so i decided.. what the heck! it really can't be that hard to make a skirt! right?
so off i go to wal-mart to buy some material. i don't want to get anything to fancy or expensive, cuz.. remember- i haven't sewn clothing since JR. HIGH! i am talking total 80's!
since i was in the fabric department i figured i could look and see if they had a skirt pattern that i might like... they did! and i got it! i guess it wouldn't hurt!
ok.. washed the material, cut out the tissue pattern, laid it out and cut the fabric! holy moly! i was going to do it! i even had purchased thread to match and elastic for the waist! am i a pro or what?!!?
i am on my way! i didn't even run into to many problems! it is cute and fits! what a bonus!!!
my next trick..... a pair of pants!!
ok. so i had just finished my lovely skirt and my best friend, ann, calls. she wants to know if i am frustrated with my skirt yet.. do i want to take it down to salt lake so my mom could finish (she is a professional seamstress and all...) i said noway! i was done!
she was very impressed!!! but they were still going to slc and wanted to know if i wanted to come! sure enough! i rarely turn down an adventure with annie and julie!
so off we go... shopping galore! we had so much fun! shopping, eating, shopping, shopping and eating some more!
what a fun day we had! i love saturdays!

American Idol!!!!
oh how i love american idol! i am so excited that it is on again!
this is my 4th year watching it from the very beginning! i think that this is such a funny time to watch it!
i have only a few comments about the auditions:
1. how do these people not know that they cannot sing?!
2. why do families/friends lie to them and tell them that they are great?! - that reminds me, if i EVER audition for something like that... please tell me that i am not that great of a singer!!!!
3. don't be mad at the judges! what is the saying?... don't kill the messenger... SOMEONE had to tell these poor people what is up!
4. i am so glad that i get to vote! i vote each year... maybe not each week, but pretty often! my vote makes the difference you know....
5. do you really think that if you wear a stupid costume that you are going to be the next american idol? i don't think that any of the a.i. winners EVER wore a costume to their original audition!

the Daffodil Principle
This is so true! We are all challenged by time and obligations--this is very thought provoking. I got this message in an email from my mom and i had to share... it is my new motto...
Several times my daughter had telephoned to say,
"Mother, you must come to see the daffodils before they are over."
I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead
"I will come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly on her third call.Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and reluctantly I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house I was welcomed by the joyful sounds of happy children. I delightedly hugged and greeted my grandchildren."Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in these clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see badly enough to drive another inch!"My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother."
"Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her. "But first we're going to see the daffodils. It's just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this." "Carolyn," I said sternly, "Please turn around."
"It's all right, Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign with an arrow that read, " Daffodil Garden." We got out of the car, each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight. It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each different colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.

One day at a time, she had created something of extraordinary magnificence, beauty, and inspiration. The principle her daffodil garden taught is one of the greatest principles of celebration.
That is, learning to move toward our goals and desires one step at a time--often just one baby-step at time--and learning to love the doing, learning to use the accumulation of time. When we multiply tiny pieces of time with small increments of daily effort, we too will find we can accomplish magnificent things. We can change the world ."It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had though t of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.
She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?" Use the Daffodil Principle.

i am doing it!!!
ok... so day 15 of the new year and i am doing it!!! 15 down 350 to go!!!
today i worked out, read my scriptures and am putting away stuff!
i am listening to chris daughtry right now! i fell in love with him and his voice last year on american idol. (which the new season starts tomorrow, by the way!) he is incredibly talented and good looking to boot! kevin was the great husband he is and gave me this cd for christmas! i love it!
chris is a bit of a rocker, and i am a country music lover, but i am really really enjoying his cd.
you should check it out!
anyway.. i am feeling good about me, chris and life today and wanted to share... :0)

New Year's Resolutions!
ok.. so i realize it is a little late to be chatting about new year's resolutions, but i wanted to post them and hold myself accountable for the one's that i have set this year.
i taught a lesson to the young women's group (age 12-18 for my church) on 12/30. it was about making goals and i thought it was very appropriate for the new year.
i have set 5 goals/resolutions for myself and i need everyone's help to accomplish them!
in years past i have set goals and quickly forgot what they were and why i set them. this year i vowed that it would be diffent! i will do it! all of them!
ok... here they are... my goals for 2007!
1. read the scriptures every day.
2. work out on a regular basis
3. work on my personal progress (this is a goal and values oriented program for the girls 12-18 in my church.) as a leader, i too, can participate
4. keep in better touch with my family and friends ie: blog, letters, emails, b'day cards etc.
5. get organized and keep it that way... my home and my personal life as well.
so there you have it! i am going to be a better person this year. i just know it!

i hate being sick!!!
this week i have had a cold that has slowly taken over my life! i can't sleep, nothing sounds good to eat, my head hurts and i have been coughing a bit!
yuck!
i have to work graveyard shifts for the next two nights! what am i going to do?!!?? i just woke up from a "NyQuil" sleep. and i am considering taking another dose to sleep some more... how else am i going to be able to stay up all night and work!!!

2006 Highlights
ok... i have been thinking about 2006, and i will be honest, i am not sad to see it go... however, we did have some good times too.
so, here are our hightlights from 2006!
i was given a new church assignment to work with the youth. it was great to get to know these wonderful girls! i was able to go to "girls camp". it was amazing and i am very grateful that i was able to go. i have made friends, young and "old" alike, that i will cherish forever!
i learned how to crochet and made my very first potholder/washcloth thingy!
sam, my little brother, lived with us for most of the year and we sure had fun! great memories that i will cherish forever! thanks sam!
mom was able to come up to logan and visit this year! ya rah!
i did lots of traveling with creating keepsakes. i was able to travel to: st. louis, missouri; kansas city, kansas; manchester, new hampshire and nashville, tennesee. i have made fabulous friends and i am honored to know each and every one of them!
i was also able to travel with scrapbookpal.com ! they are on online store that sells a little bit of everything for scrapbooking, and they have the best prices for adhesive! i went to phoenix, arizona and seattle, washington with them! i am hoping to travel quite a bit more for them in 2007!
i love the month of october. it is my birthday month! kevin took me to salt lake city for the weekend of my birthday this year! we had a great time!
while i was in new hampshire for a ck show, i was able to fly out a week early and spend some time with my dad in connecticut! we had a great time and did lots of fun stuff! i got to see my brother, marcus and his mom margaret too! this was a fantastic trip that i hope to do again really soon!
kevin changed jobs again... big surprise i know! i call it his 8 month itch! i am hoping that he will keep his new job at LeGrande Johnson Construction for more than 8 months! it seems to be a good place to be that treats their employees well. beside the fact that he was layed off the week after thanksgiving. :( he is doing well at being my "house husband" and i am very proud of him.
kevin had a fun year filled with getting lots of new "toys"! some of his new collections include:
a new bike, psp (play station portable)- complete with games, carrying case and fun accessories!, and a new top of the line phone! he is quite spoiled! good thing he is cute!
august was a hard month for us, but before the craziness hit, we had a great visit from ann's , my best friend, mom! she flew in for ann's birthday and we had a blast! one of the highlights of the weekend was going up logan canyon and having a picnic. ann, julie, maryann, mom, sam and kevin and i had a really great time!
october also brought extreme makeover: home edition to logan utah! what a fun week that was! it aired on 11/26/06 and was incredible!
i also discovered my new favorite sweet treat! candy cane kisses! yummy!
happy new year everyone! i just toasted in 2007 with my sweetheart and a glass of sparking cider! may this new year be filled with health, love, laughter and happiness!

Christmas Memories 2006
i love this time of year... i really do... but i have to admit... i am always a little relieved to have it done too. we really are blessed. we were surrounded by family and friends this year.
here are a few of our pictures to help remember this fun time of year...
my mom came up for christmas eve's eve. we all had a great time looking at christmas lights, eating scones, watching christmas movies, drinking hot chocolate and shopping! we had so much fun! oh... did i forget?... we at turkey dinner too!
on christmas eve my best friend, ann, and her roommate, (and our friend) julie came over for dinner, presents and a fun new game. yes... the title of "sweets and snacks superstar" belongs to annie! she is a "SUPERSTAR"!

Tis the Season!
I love this wonderful time of year! Nothing makes me feel more in the spirit than good old fashioned Christmas Concert!
So far I have gone to 2! Every year for the last 11 years I have gone to Michael McLean's Fogotten Carols. Deseretbook.com It is truly the start of the season when I go!
Tonight we went to the Voicemale concert. They are 6 guys who sing accapella. Awesome! They have so much fun on stage! It is so entertaining to go! voicemalemusic.com
I have been quite stressed the last few weeks, but I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I am hoping that the lights are Christmas lights, cuz they are my favorite!
