who am i... Libra

LIBRA

Balance is the keyword for this sign, and when it comes to keeping everything on an even keel, a Libra will lead the pack. Peace loving and judicial, this sign abhors being alone. Partnerships are very important for the Libra, especially those on a personal level. With their winning personalities and cooperative style, they aren't apt to be alone for long!
Friends and Family
Fun loving and willing to help out, the Libra makes an excellent friend. Even though they can be late and indecisive, once they're on the scene, they're ready to go. This flexible sign loves to spend time with friends and family and doesn't hesitate to initiate gatherings. Sociable and suave, Librans naturally draw people to them. They have a way of creating a compelling aura of harmony around them. When it comes to challenges, this balancing sign can see both perspectives in a disagreement, making them excellent problem-solvers. Companionable, they're apt to keep their friends and family busy.
Career and Money
Harmony is the keyword for this sign. For the Libra, maintaining this is of the utmost importance. They can be excellent leaders and will work hard to earn and deserve the privilege. Truth and justice always prevail for Librans as they go about their days. Working with others or in a partnership is ideal for this social sign. Artistic and persuasive, these folks are gifted talkers who do well in any position that provides a platform for them to chat.
Careers that involve justice such as police officer, lawyer, or judge are excellent choices for Libra. They will also succeed at such occupations as diplomat, civil servant, interior decorator, composer, and fashion designer. Group settings pose no challenge for Librans - in fact, the more the merrier. Their strong sense of diplomacy serves well in almost anything they do.
If you go shopping with a Libra, best to plan some extra time! This sign can be terribly indecisive when it comes to purchasing. Balancing their money, however, is a snap for Libra. Keeping a good balance between savings and spending money is a real talent for these folks. Their love of fashion and housewares can see them out and about in stores quite often. One of Libra's favorite pastimes is to shop for someone special.
Love and Sex
Finding the right partner will be a priority in the Libra's life. For those already in a relationship, maintaining the peace and harmony takes center stage. A Libra alone is a sad thing indeed, not to mention unnatural. They need to connect with others. As lovers they are expressive, creative, and balanced. They love to make their partners feel completely and thoroughly satisfied from conversation to lovemaking. Librans' charm and dedication to striking the perfect balance with others makes them wonderful partners.
LIBRA TIDBITS
Health
Each sign has a part of the anatomy attached to it, making this the area of the body that is most sensitive to stimulation. The anatomical areas for Libra are the kidneys, lower back, adrenal glands, and appendix.

The ruling planet for Libra is Venus. This planet's action is gentle and harmonious. It governs beauty, charm, emotional contacts, possessions, unions of all kinds, singing, art, culture, sweets and sugar, and moral character.

The color of choice for Libra is blue.
Gemstone
Libra's star stone is the sapphire.
Lucky Numbers
Libra's lucky numbers are 1, 2, and 7.

my special day...

i love my birthday!
i usually have a countdown that starts on the first...
i usually read 2 special birthday books every night...
i usually think about my birthday all day long...
i usually sing a little song that i made up when i was sixteen...
this year i did none of it!!
my birthday kinda snuck up on me! it seems that i have been a tad distracted... :)
i had a great birthday anyway...
had a kinda lazy morning. abbi was a little fussy even though i kept telling her it was momma's special day. she didn't really care! :)
we went out to dinner with friends and then back to their house for cake and presents.
it was a perfect day! all i have ever wanted really.
surrounded by family and friends with my sweet husband and daughter.
so... happy birthday to me!!

this, that and the other!

my birthday was last week and i wanted to share a few pics of the exciting day! i have more, just haven't downloaded them to the computer yet! :)

first of all... the end of september i came to work and my office was totally decked out! streamers, balloons, birthday banners and a cool countdown chain!

as you all know i totally love my birthday! so the decorations were awesome!!

as i was leaving work the day before my birthday i came out to my car... looking like this...

i just have to say! i loved it!! :)

the tires were "spotted"

balloons tied to my side mirrors

writing all over every window!

the front said "happy birthday" - but it was done backwards so i could read it while i was driving!
the back window said "honk its my birthday" fun!

there was also writing on my car paint too- that is the only thing i was a little worried about... wasn't sure how it would effect my paint.

there were paper confetti sprinkles all over the car.. windshield, back window... everywhere!

and to top it all off... it was shrink wrapped too! :) crazy! but fun!

i have more to share... but it will have to wait for another day! :)

in a funk...

i have to say... i am in a funk...
i don't know exactly what's wrong with me, but i think i am in a weird phase...
don't wanna do anything.
feel like life is slowly falling apart and can't pick up the pieces fast enough.
don't really feel needed and tired of trying to help those who don't want help.
forgive me... just needing to express my thoughts... and vent.
i will be better later...

recording my life...

today in young women's we had a lesson on the importance of keeping a record of our lives! well, it was a good one for me... because i have been neglecting my blogs!

i am going to do better!

here is a quote that was part of the lesson!

"We urge our young people (that's me) to begin today and write and keep records of all the important things in their lives.

I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations. Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us and as our posterity read of our life's experiences, they, too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted."

-Spencer W. Kimball

i am going to be better about sharing our story...

a Little bit of Us...

mother's day?

happy day after mother's day...
i have to be honest... i would rather celebrate it a day or so later... it makes it not as difficult...
let me explain...
i love my mom! and i am so thrilled that she is living with kevin and i! we love having her here! and for the last 30ish years of my life, mother's day has always been about her and how lucky i am to have her in my life!
but the last few years have been a bit different.
kevin and i can't have children. and for the most part i have come to peace and acceptance with this knowledge. but some days... it is not very easy.
mother's day is one of those days.
i want to share a post from my friend, maryruth... (who by the way, celebrated her first mother's day this year! wahoo! ) ...she totally voiced some of my very thoughts in this...

"... I won't lie... I've hated Mother's Day for the past 9-ish years... and I have a fabulous Mother... but the day was a reminder of everything that I couldn't have. Motherhood... something I'd wanted to and planned on my whole life. And to sit on the bench at church every Mother's day and listen to talk after talk about Motherhood and how it was our destiny and our greatest joy. And then to hear the children sing songs to their mothers. It got to be too much. I just couldn't handle it anymore. So about 6-ish years ago I stopped going to Church on Mother's Day... which is so not me... But I just couldn't do it anymore. I wasn't trying to make a statement. It was just the only way I could deal with things. ... "

i have to say... i echo these thoughts! i have a hard time going to church on mother's day... this year i had to work a graveyard shift on saturday night going into sunday... but i don't know that i would have gone, even if i hadn't worked...

this year was fabulous though! the day was celebrated with close friends and family! a very good way to help me remember what i should be celebrating...

maryruth goes on to say...

" ... There are so many wonderful women who deserve to celebrate today. ... that there are so many great, wonderful women in the history of the world who were never "mothers" in the traditional sense. One of my favorite examples in Mother Teresa She changed the world with her goodness and kindness and yet do we dismiss her because never had a child of her own?
So while I think its absolutely important to celebrate Motherhood (and I hope nobody feels like I'm diminishing that)...and I'm sooo grateful for the amazingly wonderful Mother that I have... and the mother that I hope to be... I also think it so important to celebrate Womanhood. Because really one woman can change the world. Happy Womanhood day."

i want to be like this... able to look past the hurt and tears...

i know that i will... it will just take some time. i have always known that i will be the best "aunt" ever! my friends kids will be super spoiled! :)

all in all, i am doing great. and i really feel at peace with this path i have been given... just everynow and again i feel this sadness...

no worries! i look forward to the future and what new adventures it holds!

A - Z ...

i haven't posted much lately, so i thought i would get caught up by listing the A - Z 's of what's been going on!
A- i love allrecipes.com! i am on there all the time looking for a great recipe for dinner. my favorite feature is the ingredient look up. you just type in what ingredients you have and they will tell you what recipes you can make! mmmmm!
B- i am very very very sorry for my neglecting my blog for so long! i have been busy, but i am not sure with what! :) i am gonna do better! :)
C- it is that time of year! girl scout cookie time! mmmm! i can't wait until march when my order comes in!
D- last night i just wanted to chill and watch a DVD, and i had one from netflix that i hadn't watched yet... Phantom of the Opera (2004)! OH. MY. GOSH. i loved it! i have never seen it before... always wanted to, but never did! loved it! loved the music (which i had heard...), loved the characters, loved the set, loved the costumes! wow! amazing!
E- my other blog, Everyday 2009, has been fun! i find that i am looking for the right thing to document each day!
F- i know that i have talked about Facebook many times on here... but i really love it! it has been such a great way to re-connect with old friends and learn new things about them! i have also found lots of current friends on there too! thanks to all of you that found me on there and added me as a "friend".
G- ok... so last night i wanted to play a game. solitaire... just regular solitaire (on the computer- i don't really play with cards anymore... ). i really like playing spider and algerian, but last night i just wanted to keep it basic! i decided i would play till i won and then go to bed! quick, right? no! 3 FREAKIN HOURS LATER!! i know... i know... i should have just gone to bed! but i just couldn't! i hadn't one a game yet! i have NEVER had such a rough time with solitaire in my life! geez!!!
H- last week i got a really cute haircut! i love getting something new and different! syndee always does such an amazing job! love her! funny story... i was trying to find a new cut in a magazine and i had picked out about 8 cuts, i showed them to my friends and work to see what they liked... one of them said... "jennie, it looks like the exact same cut you already have in just 8 different ways!" lol! maybe... but it feels new! ;)
I- i am not sure what i ever did before internet! i love this technology! i can research things, talk to friends, journal, scrapbook and play games! i am very grateful for it!
J- this week i was able to go and visit my cute friend jami! she is doing great! she was in the hospital again for about 7 weeks during christmas and new years, but is home now. i haven't seen her for so long... it was a good visit. she had a scare the night before i got there, but is doing much better. she is such a beautiful person, and has been through so much in the last year. it was a year ago last week that she was life flighted to slc and not expected to make it through the night. i have learned so much from her and her family in this last year. i love her family. her brother jeff, is one of my dearest friends. i can't wait to see jami again! :)
K- my poor little kevin! he has had some pretty long runs for work lately. he left yesterday morning at 1:30 am to drive to arizona to deliver fuel. he was supposed to be home today... but had tire problems before he left and had to spend a couple of hours getting that fixed. so, he will deliver the fuel today (probably already has) and will head home. but because he can only drive so many hours in a shift, he will have to stop and stay overnight again. that will put him home sometime tomorrow! at least this time he was prepared and had extra change of clothes. i had him put an extra set of "unders" in "just in case"! good thing i did! even with all of the issues that come up, we are grateful that he has a job and there is work to be done!
L- i am truly blessed and love my life! somedays are not as fun as others, but overall, i am happy!
M- the last couple of weeks i have been working on an MP3 cd for a friend of mine. we started off listing songs that were his "theme" songs and those 20 turned into 74 songs!!! crazy, i know! but it was so fun! we have been sharing songs back and forth this whole time, i would listen to them and then add them to the list! then i downloaded them, organized them and burned the cd! i gave it to him yesterday! so fun! what a fun project! now what do i do... lol!
N- when i got my haircut the other day i also got my nails done. i have had some pretty fun colors in the past, but i am back to classic white tips. but this time i got a cool stamp on them too! now i have about 6 hearts stamped on a couple of nails! how fun!
O- we are doing "A Night at the Oscars" for a Young Women program. it has been fun to see it come together! We are encouraging the girls to wear formals and dress up! i hope it turns out well!
P- i am famous! well, not really, but i like to pretend! my friend, sandi, designs wonderful paper! she is incredible! she and her best friend, marsha, own a scrapbook paper company called Paper Loft! if you ever see this paper
you should so buy it! amazing stuff!
ok... so another friend, kris, and i have been trying to convince sandi to create a pink and brown line of paper for a couple of years! well, they just announced their new lines for 2009 and amongst them is a pink and brown line! wahoo!
but the news gets better!!!! they named one of the designs after ME!!! and another design after kris! how cool is that! i haven't seen the paper yet, but kris said it is beautiful! i am so excited! i can hardly stand it!
so... when you are out there looking for some cute pink and brown paper, look for paperloft and buy the kris and jennie paper! i will post it as soon as i have some!
Q- do you have something basic in your life that you love? for me, one of those things is ziploc bags... the quart size! i love them! i am not sure what i would do without them! everything goes into one! stuff for kevin, cereal for work, pens for the car, invitations or cards, phone and keys... the options are endless!
R- every year at work we get one of the desk top calenders... this year we got the "you might be a redneck if..." i love it! so funny! and i have come to the conclusion, that i just might be a redneck! lol!
S- this might sound silly, but i love salami! the other day at work we were able to sample on of the new salami's in the meat dept! so so yummy! it had a great flavor and was softer than other salami's i have tried! i bought some that day and have been eating it all weekend! mmmm!
T- i have been a texting fool lately! between talking to my friend about his cd, my yw girls and friends in general! i am on fire! this is another technology i am so grateful for! what did i do before cell phones and texting! good thing i have an unlimited texting plan!
U- UGH! my scrapbook room is such a disaster! i don't even know where to start in the cleaning, dejunking and organizing it! sad thing is... it's not even next on the list... there are a few other rooms ahead of it!
V- can you believe that valentine's day is next week! wow! time sure flies when you are having fun! i am still shocked that christmas came and went! let alone that its time for valentines!
W- i love 3 day weekends! this is one for me, since we had to work last sunday (and part of saturday)! wahoo!
X- well, i don't love to eXercise! haven't been doing too well at that lately!
Y- i mentioned before that we are doing an Oscar's night for Young Women's... my role in this event is the invitations and programs. i love doing this kind of thing! paper crafting... i realized this week that this is "what i do". and... i am good at it. it's hard for me to say... i don't want to sound prideful, but i had an A-HA moment this week and that is what i learned. i was looking through a magazine this week and there was a quote... "Do What You Love". i love this! and i am grateful for the opportunity i have to craft in yw!
Z- i love sleeping! getting those ZZZZ's is pretty important to me. i am a person who needs at least 8 hours of sleep a night. on the weekends i try to get 10... hasn't been happening lately! need. more. sleep.
well, there you have it! my life... A - Z style!

tv thoughts...

ok... so i have been thinking about the tv shows i watch... and i feel like there is lots going on with them that i need to talk about...
gilmore girls: i started watching this series again a few months ago. i am watched alot this weekend and only have the final episode left! i love this show! i feel like in know the characters! i want to move to stars hallow and be part of the town! what a great place to be! even if only for an hour or two...moonlight: this show is no longer on tv and i am sad about that! i thought it was a great show ! and he was a cutie! the story line was a good one, and i was waiting for even more to happen! i would love to see it come back on the air...

the mentalist: this is a new show this season and i am really enjoying it! the main guy is pretty quirky and fun! i think he is very interesting and i am having fun watching it!

survivor: this is always a good one to watch! i have only been watching it a few years... but am a faithful watcher now! i like the host and each year the cast members are interesting. this year i have not been disappointed... always a good one!

ghost whisperer: i have watched this show from the very beginning! i love it. i have to admit that i have to record it and watch it the next day... when the sun is out. no nighttime watching for me! i am not happy that they are changing all of the characters though! i am bummed that the professor friend is gone and now the husband! not good! i bawled like a baby on both departures! not sure what is going to happen now!

fringe: this is one of my new favorites! i have to admit, i started watching it because of hottie, joshua jackson! but the show is very interesting! i little edgy, but i like it! and let's be honest, he is really fun to look at!

amazing race: this is another reality show that i enjoy! the people on here drive me crazy sometimes! i have a hard time watching all of the bickering, but it must be very stressful to be on the race with your loved ones. it seems that they are the ones we can "get away" with being mean to! why is that?

the biggest loser: i have always been a fan of this show! someday, i would like to be part of it... not sure i have the courage or strength though! this season has been a hard one for me to watch... a few of the blue team couples are driving me crazy and they are there to win money, not necessarily to loose weight and change their lives! very frustrating!
ok... there you have it! a handful of my favorite tv shows! what do you watch? what are your fav's?

* i made a really good recipe this week! my friend julie made it for us for dinner a few weeks ago and i loved it! she sent me the recipe and wah-la! i made it too! so yummy! i included julie's notes b/c i followed them too! serve with rice or egg noodles!

Sweet and Sour Chicken Sauce:
Sauce:
1 TB Red Wine Vinegar
1 1/2 C. Sugar (I used half that)
1/2 C. Pineapple Juice
6 TB Ketchup
2 TB Soy Sauce
1 tsp Salt 2 tsp Accent
Chicken
Corn Starch
Egg
Dip chicken breasts in beaten egg, then shake in cornstarch enough to coat. Brown in hot oil, sprinkle with garlic powder and place in casserole pan. Make sauce and pour over chicken.
Sauce: Combine ingredients in sauce pan. Bring to boil, stirring 1 min. Remove from heat. Pour over chicken and bake at 350 for 30-45 min.
I just grilled mine and cut it into strips, then poured the sauce over the top, then baked until it was warm all of the way through or until the rice was done. I also included the pineapple chunks that I had gotten the juice from.
* the twilight movie comes out this month! how fun! i can't wait to see it!
have a great day!
