been awhile!

ok ok... i am still here! well sorta! :)

life has been completely crazy! what is new? right?

~ yesterday was my inventory for work. big day. huge. i survived!

not only did i survive, but we did well! thanks to the hard work of my team.

~ we are moving on saturday into our first home! we are so excited!

lots to do still, but we are doing it!! painters are almost done. handy man is starting to build the pantry and master closet today. electrician is coming today or tomorrow to do a few things!

~ and then... the event of a lifetime!!

our baby girl is coming sometime in the next 4 weeks!!! wahoo!

so... until further notice...

what a difference...

a year makes...

you may all remember my last mother's day post... it was a tough one.

again, a friend of mine said it best...

"Don't take this wrong, but I sorta hate Mother's Day, ( I adore, love and honor my own Mother) and I admit this year (is) easier now that I (am pregnant). But after 7 years of infertility, Mother's Day seems like a swear word, and it has a not very lovely spot in my heart.

I am one of those people who want to hide away in my house and not leave AT ALL, so that I don't have to interact with anyone or hear that awkward pause, "uh...happy uh Mother's Day" Or the "you're a mother too". I know these things are said with good intentions, and from people that I love, but it always hurt.

I still have my insecurities, but I have been given the gift I most long for so I am thankful to God for that. So, now on Mother's day my heart ache for those that don't have what I have, because I know how it feels, and I just want you to know that I love you all, and hope you make it through this day. "

i am so blessed to have my sweet husband. i love him more and more everyday. and i am so grateful for my mom and all that she does for us. and i am extremely blessed to be given this little life growing inside of me! for that, i am forever grateful.

but i feel a tad like a hypocrite... just because i am gonna be a mom now, doesn't mean that all of my previous mother's day thoughts and feeling can go away.

i do have a different perspective of it now, amazing what years of not having something will do for a girl!! but, i think the day is more of a day to celebrate being a women, not just a mom.

so, here is to you!! all of you wonderful friends out there! some i have met in person, others just through this amazing thing we call the internet. i have learned something (many things) valuable from each of you.

30 weeks!!

i have really enjoyed being pregnant and since this whole experience is such a miracle i wanted to take a minute and share some of the things i love/don't love about being pregnant.

at 30 weeks along ...

** i can feel my baby move more and more! i love it! i probably didn't really know i was feeling her until i was about 20 weeks along or so, now i feel her all of the time! very cool.

** i have a baby bump! i am a bigger girl and so noticing that i am pregnant is not as easy as it is for smaller gals. my tummy is starting to show more. i like that, but sometimes i just look like i have gained weight. i don't let it bother me, cuz i know it is my baby.

** i have only had heartburn a couple of times. i am very lucky that it hasn't bothered me much. i just take 2 tums and i am good to go.

** when i am sitting at a desk or table i feel her move lower in my belly. when i am relaxed on the couch or in bed she is up high by my belly button.

** a few weeks ago i was laying in bed reading my pregnancy book and all of a sudden the book jumped! i kinda giggled and put the book down and watched my tummy. sure enough, she was going to town!! i could see my belly just bouncing all over the place! so dang cool!! i wish kevin would have been home to see it too!

** my lower and upper back hurts if i sit for too long in one place. lots of pillows and movement are the key for me.

** i am a stomach sleeper and i am still able to sleep that way!! i am not sure how much longer that will be the case, but for now i am enjoying it!!

** i get up to go to the restroom every few hours!! not fun. i told my best friend the other day that i thought the baby thought my bladder was like a trampoline! bounce. bounce. bounce.

** she loves american idol. whenever it is on she is dancing all over the place!

** i get more excited and nervous everyday.

** i think we have decided on a name for sure. but we aren't wanting to tell everyone yet. :)

** kevin is so dang cute! he will get right up close to my belly and say " hello baby!! it is your dad! i love you! your mama and i can't wait to meet you in july! you need to stay in there and get strong and healthy. we love you! "

** i love kevin. he is going to be an amazing daddy.

** we have been taking lots of classes for the baby too... early pregnancy and infant safety are done. prepared childbirth, breastfeeding and new parenting are coming up!! wow....

** this is such an amazing experience. i decided long ago that if/when i ever got pregnant that i would love it. i think it is such a cool thing and i am so honored to be able to carry my child. i love being pregnant and i wouldn't trade it for the world.

5 years ago...

a very good friend of mine left this life after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

i will forever remember and be grateful for kristi's friendship and impact in my life.

i sure miss you, kristi.

Rent a silly "chick flick" (Think "Clueless" not "Terms of Endearment")

love it!! i am throwing away my other list and sticking to this one!!

ha... not really, but i might add a few new things to the one i have already going! :)

8 freakin' wonderful years!!

wow... how the time flies!! i am so excited to be married to this wonderful man! he is so good to me. i am so blessed!!

we have a 8 freakin' wonderful years together! lots of ups and downs! and i wouldn't change any of it!

it is cool to celebrate this anniversary knowing that we will be adding another little one to our family this summer! we are so excited!

we had a really fun couple of days together! we had about 2 1/2 days to just relax and have fun! yesterday we took a little day trip down to riverdale and layton. we started off the day at babies r us! what a fun store!! we even found the perfect stroller!! i wrote all the info down so we can decide to either register for it or we can just use money from our baby account to buy it! i am very excited about it! i think its gonna be a good one!!

then we headed to lunch! the place kevin wanted to try was no longer there, so we hit our anniversary traditional- famous daves! gosh!! love them! such good food!! poor little kev loved the texas pit bbq sauce so much he got a little bit on his white t-shirt. so we did a quick trip to walmart to get him a new shirt! :)

then our adventure took us to target! we looked at baby stuff there and found some cute onesies. along with some other things we were looking for... new lunch box and water bottle! i know... we are pretty exciting people! :)

we decided to take a look at the movie options and found that clash of the titans in 3D started in 5 mins!! off we went! it was a pretty good movie! kevin liked the action... of course!

after the movie we (well, I) wanted to go to the quilted bear! so off we went! kevin found some really funny sleep shorts and i found the cutest stuffed giraffe ever!! it was fun just to wander and see all of the neat crafty stuff people have made! love the quilted bear!

we were wearing down at this point, so we decided to go to dinner at ruby river steakhouse and then head home! mmmm... dinner was good! we had never been there and we weren't disappointed! delish!!

what a fun day! doing whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted to do it!

today was more of our lazy and relaxing day! we spent the majority of it sitting on the couch, all cuddled up, watching movies! doesn't get better than that! mom surprised us with buying us steaks so we could grill them up at home and not have to leave! so nice!

then... we decided to put a bid in on a house!! we have been looking at the house for a month or so, just not sure what to do! but today we took the leap of faith! it is a cute little house, 4 bedroom, 2 bath. not my dream home, but it will be good for us for now. i am hoping all goes well and we are able to work with the seller to figure out the details!

so... that was our 8 year wedding anniversary celebration! we both had a fabulous couple of days and it was great to be able to spend so much time together!

i love this man!

random thoughts...

it has been awhile since i have posted anything real on here... so here are my random thoughts for the day!

* Girl Scout Cookies! I know that I am not a GS anymore, but I sure act like it!! I sold over 100 boxes of cookies for my friends little girl!! Crazy!! I just talked to people at work to see if they wanted any… yup. They did!! Wow! Lots of cookies! Good thing I am pacing myself!!

* We went and looked at houses again this week. I am not too thrilled about any of them… considering a couple, but nothing really screams at me. One of the houses is in a nice neighborhood and area. Very established and quiet. The house just got marked down pretty low and it is a 4 bedroom 2 ½ bath. The problem is that the front of the house has settled and you can feel the unbalance while standing in the rooms. There is a pretty big crack in the kitchen ceiling and down the hallway. Our realtor (who is a very good friend of mine) is trying to find a building contractor who will just walk through it with us to see if it is safe and/or worth fixing up. If it can be fixed, how much would it cost? We are wondering if we could add that amount onto the amount of the home loan and then pay someone to fix it. We would also have to have the entire home re-carpeted and painted. So, nice house, but lots of work! I am just not sure that it is going to be worth it in the long run! I am having doubts this week. Hopefully we can figure out something soon. In order to get the tax credit we need to be under contract by 30 April.

* In the spirit of moving I have started bringing home boxes from work! To pack with! It is very overwhelming to look at all of the junk/crap/cool stuff we have! And then to think about packing… it scares me!! So I figure if I pack a little bit every weekend, I actually might get it done and not be too overwhelmed! That is my goal: 3-4 boxes a week. Last weekend I packed the books on my bookshelf. I am not reading them right now and I figure they will easily fill up a few boxes!! Good plan, huh? I also think in the next few weekends I can work on my scrapbook room a little too. I haven’t really been in the mood to scrap, so I might as well get packing!! And then… maybe some of the upper kitchen cupboards! There is stuff up there I am not even sure I knew I had!! Hee hee!

* I had another Dr’s appt on Monday. It went well. I have only gained 10 lbs since I have been pregnant. (I am over 5 months along!!) That is pretty good, but I don’t wanna gain too much more since I am so overweight as it is. As long as the baby is healthy and strong, that is an ok thing to do. Most women gain 25-30 lbs, but for me that is not a good idea. Anyway, the heartbeat was strong and everything looks good. I am supposed to get another fancy ultrasound in a few weeks so that can look at the spine and heart again. I guess the tech wasn’t able to get very good shots of the baby last time cuz she was so wiggly. I am feeling her more every day. It is fun to know she is in there! Well, I think that is what I am feeling! I read in my book today that she is almost a foot long and weighs a little less than 2 lbs. Cool….

* Have you heard about Bountiful Baskets? It is a food co-op where we can get a huge basket of fruits and vegetables for only $15! They are a weekly thing and I love it!! The website opens on Monday afternoons and we pick the food up on Saturday! I missed it last week, but I am getting one this Saturday! The pick up locations fill up fast!!

* We are starting to take some Pre-Natal and Baby classes next week. There are about 7-8 classes that the hospital offers for mom and dad to be. We signed up for most of them and will be going to them over the next few months. Usually it is just an evening class 6:30-8:30. I am excited! Some of the classes include: early pregnancy, parenting, infant safety, breastfeeding and birthing. They even include a tour of the hospital so we know where we are going when the time comes! Since we are so new to this baby thing, I am hoping they will teach Kevin and I something!

* Kevin hasn’t had much luck with a job. He is still hating what he is doing. I feel so bad for him, cuz he is so miserable. He has applied for a few places that are a little more local, so that is good.

* I have really been in the mood for solitaire again!! I have to play everyday!!

I will do better about updating more!!

i am a huge voicemale fan! they are an amazing a cappella musical group of 6 fabulous and talented men. last week one of those wonderful men, Phil Kesler, passed away.

On Thursday, February 11, 2010 Phillip Andrew Kesler passed peacefully from this life into the next. His wife, Heidi, and daughter, Eden were home with him at the time of his passing. He had fought metastatic colorectal cancer for the past three years. During that time, he continued to serve his church and to teach graphic design at Jacksonville State University. He held degrees (BA, MFA) in art from Utah State University and has been an Assistant Professor at JSU since fall 2005. He loved design, typography, and especially his students and colleagues.

Phil was also a member of Voice Male, an award-winning contemporary a cappella group based in Utah. He loved music (both vocal and piano) and poetry.

Phil was born in Midvale, UT on July 23, 1968. He served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan. In addition to his wife and daughter, Phil is survived by his parents Claudia and Orson Kesler of Alpine, UT; and brothers: Matt (Tauna) of Liberty, MO; Dan of Taylorsville, UT; Ken of Thousand Oaks, CA; Aaron of Alpine, UT; and Steve (Morgann) of Salt Lake City, UT.

Services will be held Monday, February 15 at noon at the LDS Chapel located at 1217 Lenlock Ln Anniston. A viewing will also be held at the church from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The funeral service in Utah will be Saturday, February 20th at the LDS Chapel at 625 East 600 South, Smithfield. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Phil’s request is that those interested make a donation to the JSU Art Department Foundation for Student Scholarships, or you may make a donation to the Eden Marie Kesler Trust Fund at any branch of Zion’s Bank.

the story...

i have had lots of people ask me about "my story"... how i found out i was pregnant... etc...

so here is the story!

being pregnant never crossed my mind. we had given up on the idea that we could have a baby a couple of years ago. so any symptoms i may have had i totally ignored.

and then...

i had noticed the week of thanksgiving that i was really tired all of the time. even napped on thanksgiving day! which is very rare for me, i never ever take naps.

then i caught myself telling kevin that i was a little gaggy in the mornings. not sick, just gaggy.

and the final clue was that my breasts were super tender... and more than usual.

that is when i began to wonder when my last period was. i didn't know! i had stopped keeping track of that sort of stuff years ago!

a few years ago i bought some pregnancy tests from the dollar store... well the weekend after thanksgiving i figured i better pull them out- just for fun. surely nothing would come of it! on that sunday morning i woke up early to use the restroom and thought it might be fun to try one of the tests.

it was postive.

i blew it off because:

#1 it was from the dollar store! how reliable could it really be?
#2 it had expired in november of 2006 !!!!

so when i woke up for good a few hours later i took another test.

it was also positive.

so i proceeded to take the remaining 2 tests in my cupboard!

they all were postive!!

at that point i decided i needed to go to walmart and buy a real, current and name brand test. when kevin called that morning i told him i needed to run to walmart to get a few things. he was confused because i don't usually shop on sundays. i ignored the question at first and then finally gave in and told him why i was going to walmart.

he told me to go now!!

i laughed and continued to take my time getting ready. i didn't want to get my hopes up because i was sure that i wasn't really pregnant.

when i went to walmart i was careful that no one saw me and that i had other things in my cart so the tests wouldn't be the only thing in there! i decided to buy 3 packages. the walmart brand and an EPT brand. each package had 3 tests in it. i wanted to be sure.

i didn't need to use the restroom when i got home, so the wait begins. in the mean time kevin is calling me every 30 mins or so to see "how it was going". ha! a couple of hours later i decided to give it a try! now, in my opinion, they "pee on the stick" method doesn't work. :)

so off i go to wait for another couple of hours. drinking water along the way!
finally i figured i could try again, this time using the other method. i was so nervous. hopeful, but careful not to get excited!

the test was positive. almost immediatley!

now i have taken many pregnancy tests in my life and they have NEVER been postive. when i saw the plus sign i instantly started crying.

this time was different.

i couldn't believe it! i called kevin in tears, holding my postive test, and told him that we were going to have a baby. i was pregnant. wow!!

we both cried for a bit, very excited and overwhelmed!

the next day i went to the hospital for a blood test and it too was postive. i then scheduled a dr. appt for the next week. wow... i was pregnant!

we told my mom and a few of our closest friends, but decided not to make any other announcements until i hit the 12 week mark.

the next week i went to my first dr appt and i got an ultrasound!! guess what!!!

there was a baby in there!!

i kept looking at the pictures and said it over and over again...

there is a baby in there. there is a baby in there!

i was in shock!

at that appt i learned that i was 9 weeks along,

making me due july 14th.

overrall, i have am enjoying being pregnant. i haven't been sick at all. i am really tired all of the time and i find that i am hungry most of the time. :) i am now 18 weeks along and feeling good.

we are thrilled beyond belief and are so very grateful for this little miracle in our lives.

well, kevin and i have some very exciting news!!!

WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A BABY!!

we are so excited... a miracle for sure!!

a friend of mine emailed this to me and it really hit home for me... i am going to do my best to live by this handbook. i think it will be good! enjoy...

HANDBOOK 2010

Health:

1. Drink plenty of water.

2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.

3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy

5. Make time to pray.

6. Play more games

7. Read more books than you did in 2009.

8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day

9. Sleep for 7 hours.

10. Take 10-30 minute walks daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:

11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

12. Don't have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

13. Don't over-do. Keep your limits.

14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.

16. Dream more while you are awake.

17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.

19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.

20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.

23. Smile and laugh more.

24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree...

Society:

25. Call your family often.

26. Each day give something good to others.

27. Forgive everyone for everything..

28. Spend time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of 6.

29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

30. What other people think of you is none of your business.

31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:

32. Do the right thing!

33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

34. GOD heals everything.

35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

37. The best is yet to come.

38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.

39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

on sunday i was released from Oakbrook Ward Young Women. it was a very sad day...

i have been in yw for 4 years and have seen these girls grow up right before my eyes!

i love them each for so many different reasons!
